This is an awesome 5K Run to raise funds for college scholarships for high school athletes created in remembrance of Kevin Cook, a Pacifica High School track and cross country runner who was killed in an accident at a young age. The event also awards grants to school teams.
The event is held on Labor Day weekend and the participant numbers are growing every year. Come join me and get out your running shoes. Yes, you can walk, too! It's a great event for a great cause.
Check out their website at Kevincookspiritrun.org.
See you there!
This is a great bank. I've been with them for many years now. The tellers and managers are friendly. They know my name. We are friends. I love the small town feeling I get when I go into my bank. It's like when Norm walks into Cheers. Everyone knows you and they say hi as they see you walk by.
They are just the best and they try to help in any way they can. I had a problem once because there was an error in entering my information at the main headquarters (not this branch) but they took the time and finally were able to fix the problem.
They are fantastic. And so is the Irvine/Newport Beach branch.
This is a beautiful church. Our family started going in 1994 and it was always packed. I never even heard of Dr. Schuller or the Hour of Power. But the lady at the Sunday School was so nice and she let me sit in and observe the class. I was impressed so I brought my kids in the next week. We've been going since then.
I ended up teaching Sunday School and I'm still doing it. The children's ministry is really fun with the Kid Power Plant program now in its 4th year, I think. Anyways, they will be having a Vacation Bible School in early August so get your children signed up for it now. My kids just loved the 1/2 day program which lasts one week.
If you are a Spanish speaking worshiper, go see Dante Gebel. He delivers dynamic messages, full of energy, sings with the band, and his excitement and enthusiasm is so contagious. I don't understand Spanish, but I get one of their translation boxes and listen to the translation.
His message is powerful. You have to go! It's in the afternoon. And they have a children's Sunday school program there too. The children's message is delivered by Henry Pena and he is an awesome Christian. Been with the church for a long time!
My children attended OCG for several years.
I like this school because they teach about
Japanese culture and Japanese language. They teach the kids about the special holidays they celebrate in Japan like Setsubun (Bean Throwing Festival) and Hinamatsuri (Girls Day).
They also have an annual speech contest which helped my daughter because she made a speech at her junior high school graduation in public school. I know she couldn't do that if she didn't have the opportunities to speak in public at Orange Coast Gakuen.
The school also planted a seed long ago and now she's going to Japan to study abroad.
Here's their website: www.orangecoastgakuen.org.
If you want your child to study Japanese language, Orange Coast Gakuen is the school to chose.
