I'll give my fiance one thing, he's absolutely right when he says my house needs more lighting. Soon after he moved in, we went on the hunt for the perfect light fixtures. I was happy going to Target or the Home Depot, but he wouldn't have any part of that. We wound up at Lights Beautiful and stayed there for over an hour, just wandering the aisles and looking around. I was so overwhelmed by all of the options, I literally got a headache. It was a good first time out experience and the workers that helped us narrow some things down great, but I need more time to digest things, so we'll have to go back again.
David of Agape Electric was very adept at looking at our electrical needs and suggesting ways to improve our wiring. We recently put in a home theater system that was making my electric bill go through the roof. I needed someone to come out and take a look and David happened to be the one. He took a look at everything and made the suggestions that we needed. It didn't take long for us to say yes. He helped our elecric bill go down quite a bit. He's a wonderful electrician who's honest and very careful.
My fiance and I have talked about updating the tile around the fireplace in the master bedroom to coordinate with the newly painted walls. I had had floral tiles put around the fireplace to coincide with the old wallpaper. Since the room is now a deep red with beige accents, we wanted to go with marble. Celestine Stone gave us some options to consider along with some tilework. I'm leaning more towards the marble, but we'll have to see how we can price this out and stage a wedding.
I've used Nicoll Insurance for the past couple of years and have always been happy with their service. I have a life event change coming up I spoke with them about and they gave me the guidance and advice I've come to rely on. They are responsive, repsonsible and honest. I'm very please to continue using them.
I'm so glad we found Frontier Paint. After several less than perfect experiences with some nefarious painting companies we had contact with, we decided to bite the bullet and try again. Frontier Paint restored faith and hope into my heart. They were so helpful, they gave us all the information we asked for and gave us several options we could consider. They were professional, they were straight talkers and instilled confidence in both my fiance and I again that not all contracting companies were charletains.
Cota's Painting gave us a great price to paint our master bedroom but they never showed up! I was frustrated and more than just a little upset at taking the time to be home waiting for them. After a very exasperated call from me, someone finally called me back saying they were on their way. Twenty minutes later and no crew, I called back and told them not to come at all. They wasted my entire morning and left me seething.
We had Dee Fitzgerald Painting give us a timeline and pricing for repainting the master bedroom. When my fiance moved in, I agreed to have the floral wallpaper taken down and repainted a more neutral color. Dee Fitzgerald gave us the pricing, which turned out to be way over what I thought it should be. After doing some price comparisions, I was right.
Andyman did some work for the people down the street, so we asked them what they thought about their handyman's work. They were generally pleased but told us he had a problem being on time. We thought we would give him a chance and had him bid, then ultimately hang some lights for us. We expected him at 10 in the morning; he showed up at 10:30am. Thrity mintues may not seem like a long time, but we were expecting him at a certain time and didn't receive a call saying he was running late. I was able to stay at home while he did the work (which he did just fine). I'm however hesitant to work with him again.
I was impressed by the presence and professionalism of Fix it Fred. We have a laundry list of honey dos that I really don't want my fiance to take part in (sorry honey!). Fix it Fred was able to tacke some of the smaller items on the list for not a lot of money. I would say we would use him again, but I like price comparisions, especially when I'm not familiar with the cost of something that's not an immediate need. I just want to make sure we're getting a fair price for services rendered.
When my fiance moved in, it was time to make some home improvements to the house. The Variety Handyman Service was able to give me a breakdown by job on the things my fiance and I wanted to have done. They originally gave us one bulk price, but that was a little intimidating. It took several tries before we got the individualized pricing we originally requested. I'm not sold on them, but I haven't completely dismissed them either.
