We had such a good time meeting Chef Christine Dahl and having our cake tasting. My mother found Chef Christine in a local paper and set up the tasting for us as well as my sister. I found two designs that she does that may work for us; we're still debating over that issue. What was clear was her cake. Oh my, it was good! The chocolate devil's food with the chocolate ganache and raspberries is making me salivate right now. Her vanilla chiffon with lemon curd was also out of this world. It's going to be a tough decision, but if were just about flavors, Chef Christine has my vote.
Best Nails is where I stopped in with my sister after we were up visiting to get my broken nail fixed. I could have lived with the broken until I got home, but since we were out running errands, it didn't make sense to wait. Best Nails happened to be right where we were, so I went in. They took me right away and fixed the nail. There was no waiting and the fix was done very quickly.
After a long weekend of wedding planning and running around, I needed a break. My mom, sister and I walked into the Nu Image Nails & Day Spa to see if they could take us. We waited about 15 minutes and I went first with a pedicure, my mom was taken a minute or so later for her manicure and my sister waited maybe 5 more minutes for a pedicure as well. It was heavenly to be off my feet and be pampered. I really could have cared less what color they were going to polish my toes, I just needed a little TLC and downtime, which is exactly what I got. My mom and sister enjoyed their services as well.
I appreciated the event pricing breakdown information on the Absolute Events site. It was very clear and comprehensive to me when I first started planning my wedding. So many places make you meet with them first before giving you any pricing guidelines, but Absolute did not. I was able to get my budget down before calling them for a few more details. It was very easy to be frank with them and I actually thanked them for being so up front.
I just wasn't impressed at all by I Do Vows. They made me feel like my wedding would be processed and completely impersonal. There's nothing cookie cutter about me or my fiance and I don't want that feeling for my special day. That may be fine for other people (as they so aptly put it to me) but it's not what I envisioned at all.
Just when I think I have a direction or my wedding figured out, I meet another interesting person and my plans go awry. I met Alma Rose of Weddings at Sea and was totally taken with her. She's a wedding planner/officiant who can literally do it all. I was so taken with her passion, her ideas and her enthusiasm, I called my fiance right away. I had Alma Rose talk to him for a little bit then brought him by. I can't say with 100% certainty, but Alma Rose is head and shoulders above many of the others we've met pricewise.
I looked at the options presented by Irresistible Invitations and I just didn't think they were quite what I had in mind. I'm not interested in the traditional, flowery invitations. I want something out of the box, different and with some color. I think if I had given them more of an opportunity, they could have come up with something more to my taste, but I was short on time and wasn't able to. It was fun to look through their books, but I could tell quickly they weren't what I had in mind.
I thought Creative Services Catering had a lot to offer. I'm on the fence if I want a do it yourself wedding to save on money or if I want the hassle free experience of having someone else take care of the details. Creative Services certainly is making me think I should let someone else take over, namely them. I enoyed my meeting with them and hearing about how they can take care of things for me. My only hesitate is cost. I've been taking a lot of notes during all of my calls, meetings and questions, and am compiling a matrix so I can decide. Creative Services has me leaning more towards a company like themselves for my wedding.
I was very happy with the initial consultation with Events bu Phillippe. My mom and sister went with me and I have to say, I was ready to sign up on the spot. It's a good thing that my fiance needs to have a say in all of this. The price tag for Phillippe's perfection is quite steep and I can't justify it now that I'm away from this very mesmerizing man. I loved everything he told us and showed us. I just can't justify mortgaging my house to achieve it.
My mom and dad surprised everyone at our family picnic over the 4th of July by having David Roth Photography there to take pictures. We haven't had any pictures taken as a family unit in quite some time, so the occasion when everyone was together was a great idea. The pictures came out lovey. I especially like the ones that were more free form and flowing than the ones that were staged. You need a mixture of both to get the most natural poses, and David seemed to know how to do that. We may consider him for our wedding. I have his card and will give him a call.
