Green Wheels is a new, hip, green car dealership on North Coast Highway Encinitas. This pre-owned energy efficient vehicle shop has a funky green color on the outside and many cars that get more than 30 miles per gallon. Jason Davis, the owner of this green-machine shop, has a passion for saving people money at the gas pump while decreasing the consumption of gas. He states, ??This is the way of the future, whether we want to believe it or not. Eventually all cars will have impeccable gas mileage whether they have the name Prius or not. I created Green Wheels to help be prepared for this switch.?
Jason Davis, originally from South Chicago has been in the car business for many years, but he switched to green sales when he moved to Encinitas. Previously, BMW and Pontiac were in his Northwest Indiana dealership and now his small lot on Coast Highway 101 is filled with green models such as Prius, Mini-Cooper, Honda Fit and even a Nissan that all get 30 miles per gallon or more. Can??t beat that!
What I found most intriguing was the huge, round lounge chair outside, the bright green leaf painted on the outside and the modern funky graphics on the walls. As I walked up I noticed even more fun, a Segway out front and a putting green inside the office. I walked in and took a seat on a funky green bamboo chair and had a great time chatting with Jason who truly believes in Green Wheels. He told me his story, ??We moved here on August 2010. My family and I wanted to get away from the cold weather of Chicago. I have three girls, 9, 11, and 13 who attend Rancho Santa Fe School. Olivia is actually the Environmental Consultant at her school. We decided to explore Southern California and when a good friend from Carlsbad asked to show us around, we jumped at the chance. I fell in love with the vibe of Encinitas and Leucadia. I wanted to live and open a business in this low-pressure environment. I thought people could appreciate what I was doing here especially the green-collar folks. When I found the small spot on Coasty Highway I thought ??Wow, this is perfect??.?
Green Wheels has a nice sampling of pre-owned energy efficient cars. Consignment is available, but Jason also searches for great deals on wheels. There is a certified warranty and insurance for a given time with each purchase. Jason is currently deciding on which green non-profit to help with his growing business. Have an idea email him at: Jason@ShopGreenWheels.com.

Bonita Central Hair Co is a full service salon that has been in business since 1979. There are 19 operators in this salon two of which are Aestheticians. This salon offers services to all ages, genders and styles of people. ??We make the old feel young and the young feel alive,? one of the hair stylists told me while she was styling a client??s hair. All of the stylists do different work, and it??s really amazing what a variety of services the staff offers. Some of the things you can find here are feather hair extensions and Juvexin Blowouts. I was told the manicurist, who makes beautiful jewelry which is on display and for sale in the salon, is the absolute best. I know who I will be seeing next time my nails need some beautifying.
One of the coolest things that I noticed is the Aestheticians on staff, because not too many salons have them. Louise went into detailing telling me all of the services she provides. Facials, foot detoxing, reflexology and waxing are just a few. All botanicals that Louise uses are locally manufactured. She also does deep tissue, Swedish, and reiki massages. There are many different facials to choose from like anti acne and anti-aging. The Staff is beyond friendly and welcoming and there is a stylist for everyone here. Call and make an appointment or come walk in and experience the whole spa treatment.
Another interesting thing about this salon is that one of the operators has links themselves with various programs within the community providing free haircuts through a charity call email@example.com This charity is referral based and to find out more information. You can ask for Linda Landry in the Salon.

It is rare to hear a story about a business, that evokes a true feeling of ??love?, but that is exactly what I felt when I interviewed Phil, the owner of Beads, Crystals and More. As he shared with me the store??s fascinating history, was moving to say the least. What started off with Phil??s determination to create matching earrings to his wife??s necklace collection for her 43rd birthday has evolved into one of the greatest love stories in Encinitas. What Phil didn??t know 13 years ago as he fastidiously worked on his creations, secretly night after night while his wife slept, was that on the day before her birthday, he unknowingly had 42 sets of earrings to give to her. Knowing that he needed 43 to make the gift complete, he headed down to the local bead shop to try and find something special. This decision changed his life forever.
Now owner of that same bead shop, Phil has made it his mission to create a definite feeling of love throughout his store. Whether it be his employees he treats just like family, or going way out of his way to find a certain bead for a Girl Scout Troop that no other store in San Diego would even touch, Phil has captured the true meaning of being an exceptional businessman, and that is loving what he does completely.
Beads, Crystals and More, carries hundreds of thousands of beads, crystals, precious stones, and artifacts from every corner of the world. From seashells, bone, and wood, to glass, ceramics, and metals, this one-of-a-kind staple to Encinitas?? thriving business community, offers shoppers an experience they won??t soon forget.
Come visit Beads, Crystals and More and its friendly and helpful staff, 10 to 5, any day of the week. You can also visit them online at www.beadscrystalsandmore.com
From Servati Graphics, to Pinky??s Printing, to the current operation DW Printworks, 1035 Silverado Street in La Jolla has been a hotbed of printing for over 20 years. The current owner, Derrick Williams, brings over 15 years of graphic design experience to the area and he has been in charge of this offset and digital print shop since November 2010. ??Generally when people say, 'Hey can you do this', I'll find a way to do it.? Even from my experience in the store I saw Derrick working with costumers to figure out what they wanted, as strange and random some of the requests were, and then making it happen. If you are looking for a place to swing by on your lunch break and get something printed, business cards, stationary, invitations, postcards and much much more, check out DW printworks, they can probably get you what you need.
Aplus Electronics located on 681 Second Street Encinitas is owned and operated by electronic genius Jerry Yeh. Jerry graduated from UCSD School of Electrical Engineering and opened Aplus Electronics in 2008. Jerry started the business out of his home, but eventually moved to downtown Encinitas. Jerry laughs and says, ??Yes, we had to move the business because my neighbors were getting annoyed with all the traffic. Business has been going great! We just moved again in August of 2010 from behind Filabertos to our brand new modern building on Second Street. There is a lot more space here. We can fix anything, but our specialties are the Apple, iPhone and MAC products. I love the freedom of owning my own business and helping people with their electronic struggles.?
Jerry provides a service that so many people need and depend on. Our cell phones and laptops are the link to our livelihood these days. Jerry stands behind the products he fixes and even provides a 90-day warranty and only uses original, new parts. He states, ??We not only want the item to be fixed, but we want it to stay fixed! We get a lot of referrals from AT&T because of our fast, one-day service and the quality of our repairs?.
Have a phone or laptop that is damaged? Take it to Jerry Yeh on Second Street Encinitas. His face-to-face, one-day service is hard to beat!

Not only is this store a high-end antique shop, but it is also a non-profit corporation. Everything goes to help animals in need. Daisy Fitzgerald, the manager, explains that the store is operated by over 60 volunteers, and they have been giving money away to benefit local animal charities for many years. They accept donations and consignments, but retain a very high level of quality. ??The things we have are very high end, we have a high standard? Daisy says.
Some of the different things that Ark Antiques have helped to fund include many upgrades for pet hospitals, as well as funding a traveling hospital. In addition they have helped pay for rescue missions for animals in situations such as Katrina, and various wildfires. If you are looking to find some beautiful antiques, and help out animals, check out Ark Antiques.
Nothing prepared me for Movin Shoes, San Diego??s finest running, specialty store. What appears from the outside to be an athletic shoe store, is on the inside something much more spectacular. With walls covered in memorabilia and vintage running shoes dating back more than 30 years, there is an incredible story being made here. With its first store opening in 1977 in Mission Bay, Movin Shoes has become San Diego??s headquarters for running shoes, accessories, and apparel. Co-owner Carl Brandt opened the store because he felt that others in the industry didn??t know enough about the sport to offer customers the unique edge that Movin Shoes does. The store, its owners, and employees are experts at running. They don??t only know their products exceptionally well, they also understand the art of the run, who runs, how the foot and its movements in running adapt to a new shoe, what foods should be consumed during a run, and so much more.
If you have any doubt that you are using the right shoe or equipment, Movin Shoes is THE place to come for a very unique evaluation. Offering ??demos? on all of their shoes, customers are allowed to literally run out of the store, in front of a running expert, to properly evaluate how the shoe fits, feels, and moves. They carry all of the major brands like Adidas, Asics, Brooks, New Balance, Nike, K-Swiss, and Saucony. The store also offers a vast array of ultra-comfy running apparel, as well as every accessory under the sun. Whether you??re a new runner, or an avid athlete, Movin Shoes is the ultimate destination for all of your running needs.
Please join other runners every Monday at 6pm at Movin Shoes, for a 3, 4 or 6-mile run through Encinitas. The store is open Monday through Friday, 10 to 7, Saturday 10 to 6, and Sunday 12 to 5. You can also visit them online at www.movinshoes.com

I thought I had had frozen yogurt before. I was wrong. I was looking forward to their mouth watering array of toppings, but after sampling their pomegrante ?? rasberry I felt it had achieved perfection all on its own. So I followed it with red velvet cake with heath bar topping. I have to go back, its all so good, and they constantly get new flavors in. Every 10th one is free, and the manager Bill is so very friendly. He can tell you where to get anything in la jolla while serving 4 customers, be friendly and unhurried, and still nobody has to wait. I cant wait to have their pumpkin flavor they are getting soon. All of their yogurts are 100% live cultured and kosher, their fruit toppings are fresh, never frozen. If you dont think that matters, go there and try saying that again.
Sold by the ounce at reasonable prices, the nutritional information is on the wall, and complete ingredient list is out in a flash if you have any questions or allergies. Allergies you say? Just mention it to your server, Seperate toppings are kept under the counter just in case the peanut spoon ever touched anything else. As if that was not enough, Yogurt escape constantly gives back to the community by donating prizes and services to local childrens centers.
From plain nonfat to mind numbingly delicious, try not to eat so fast you get a brainfreeze. It is worth savoring.
Open 365 days a year the flavors change every week so everytime you visit you will discover something new.
