Eddie McKeown of Northeastern Inc. installed a furnace on 11/17/10. His contract stated he would install a 92,000 BTU furnace. He installed an 88,000 BTU without telling me. I only realized it when I looked up the model number and serial number. He inspected my existing system and ductwork and stated on his contract that my price would include the hook-up to said existing ductwork. Instead, he called in a sheet metal guy to do ductwork that I never authorized. Then, they insisted I pay them $500. I was not home when this work was done, so I do not know if I really needed this "extra" work. Eddie also stated on my contract that he was providing me with a permanent, washable filter for the furnace. Even though I paid him, he has still not given me this filter. I would NOT recommend Northeastern Inc. to anyone. Doing business with this company has taught me that what seems like a good price does not mean you are getting a good value. Northeastern Inc. contacted me through Service Magic. Northeastern Inc. is no longer a member of ServiceMagic's network of prescreened, top-rated pros, per their website. I have also filed complaints against Northeastern Inc. with the Better Business Bureau and the Suffolk County Dept. of Consumer Affairs. **Consumers should always check with their local Consumer Affairs to be sure a company is licensed.**
I called them for an estimate on a new gas burner and an evaporator coil. The salesman immediately started pushing me into buying a new (lower efficiency) furnace and a new central air conditioning unit. He was very pushy and did not even want to discuss the option of a furnace and evaporator coil. I thought the salesman was a slick talker....not impressed with the whole thing. Did not do business with them.
