I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment (my first with Dr. Charnock), and was kept waiting for an hour past my appt time. When asked, the staff at the desk said it was typical. Dr. Charnock paged through my health history I had filled out and rudely offered opinions on various items, despite never having examined me. He found the dosage of thyroid medicine I was on "ridiculous," he thought I should not be on B12 (despite low levels), vitamin D (ditto), or statins for high cholesterol ("irresponsible for a woman of childbearing age to be on statins"). He also criticized me for having my thyroid gland surgically removed, which was a decision recommended by the top thyroid doctor at Mayo Clinic in Rochester (#1 in the world for thyroid). Ten minutes into the appt he was called out of the exam room for 10 minutes - to register for a diabetes conference! He ordered some labs and I scheduled a follow-up visit for the next week.
At the next visit, I arrived on time for my 11:15 appt. After 30 minutes, I was asked for my copay; I asked when I would be in to see the doctor, and they said noon at the earliest. (Although the drug rep that showed up while I was waiting got in right away!) Prognosis: He's fired. I will take my lab results and get care elsewhere.
