I suffered for five (5) weeks with sciatic nerve pain so severe in my right leg that I was taking 20 to 25 ?? 200 mg tablets of Ibuprofen a day. My gait was affected, a tooth on the right side broke, my bite was affected and I experienced incontinence. For three (3) of the five (5) weeks I was simply waiting for the appointment date I had been given to see an orthopedic surgeon. I had a fracture to my right foot and I was told that the fracture was pinching the sciatic nerve. Surgery was performed. When the anesthesia wore off, the pain in my right leg was back with a vengeance. An MRI of my lower back was performed and I was instructed to double up on the pain medication and to also take a muscle relaxer with double pain medication. After three (3) days, I was diagnosed with a bulging disc at L-4 that was pinching the sciatic nerve. I was continually drugged every four (4) to six (6) hours until I was scheduled for injections in my spine ?? all the while still experiencing severe right leg pain, incontinence, pain from foot surgery and gastrointestinal difficulties due to the number of narcotics I was instructed to take. The day before I was scheduled for the first injection, I began seeing Dr. Brenda ?? mostly because my mother insisted. I began seeing Dr. Brenda three (3) times a week. Each day, I seemed to become better and better. After about two (2) weeks of adjustments, I had to return to my general practitioner for monitoring of my Thyroid levels. To my surprise, the levels were beginning to drop. At the moment, I??m still in a boot cast to allow my foot to heal, I??m no longer in severe sciatic nerve pain; I??ve had no pain medication; my bite is back to normal; my energy level is soaring; and I sleep through the night. I am now able to do most, if not all, of the activities I was doing prior to the sciatic nerve pain, the foot surgery and injection in my spine.
