For 5 or 6 years, my doc wanted to take a peek in my bladder to see what was causing my problems. The only way to do this was a cystoscopy. I have had IVP??s, Ultrasounds, Prostate Ultrasounds, etc., but I just couldn??t get over my extreme fear of someone shoving that cystoscope instrument up my penis while I was awake. Put me out and I??ll do it?????.but??.. after about 40 or 50 calls to different Urology offices around Atlanta, I found no one will put you under for this office procedure. So for more than 6 years, Dr. Morganstern tried to explain, convince and tell me his ??special procedure? would not hurt a bit. I didn??t believe that one bit, and figured it was a little bit of BS to get me on the procedure table. For years we went around and around on this. He has been my doc for almost 30 years, but I just didn??t believe his spiel about ??no pain??, etc., etc. Finally , a month ago, my buddy has a wife who has begged him for years to get a vasectomy. For 2 years he has been chickening out, also because of the fear of pain down there. I told him, why don??t you visit my doc, as he does a no scalpel vasectomy that is also painless. I spoke to him and he then went to have a consultation appointment with Dr. Morganstern. He was to get the same ??special procedure sedation?? as I was to get for my cysto, so I figured I??d let my buddy have his vas done first. Then, if he agreed about the painless sedation and no discomfort, I??d go ahead and schedule my cysto. I believed my buddy about no pain, and called Dr. M.??s office to have my cysto scheduled to be done a few weeks later. I couldn??t sleep for days beforehand, and then came that morning I have been dreading for 6 years. I took a Xanax to calm me down on the drive down to his office. When I got there, they gowned, washed and prepped me, and then the doc came in the room a few minutes later. He injected his ??secret special procedure magic?? into my IV and we chatted a few seconds, and then when I opened my eyes, the nurse leaned over me and said I could get dressed!! I didn??t feel, see, or remember anything at all except being very slightly woozy afterwards. I went to pee a few minutes later in the restroom, and was expecting razor blades to come out, but no pain at all, just a weak stream at first. Then, I looked towards my 2nd pee later on, and again no pain.
If you want a great urologist, no?????.I mean THE BEST urologist for these pain free procedures in Atlanta, Call Dr. Steven Morganstern and get in to see him for a consultation as soon as you can!!!!! When I first came to Atlanta about 30 years ago, I went to at least 10 or 15 different urologists and all were average or below average in their knowledge and technique. I??m not a doctor, but I have worked as a urology lab assistant in the past and know a little more about these things than your average patient. I can truly say Dr. M. is an expert master of what he does and is at the top of the list of the best urologists in Atlanta!!!!
