I went ahead and got the Clear and after just a few days, I canceled by phone and internet, saving me $50 a month. The Clear works great so far.
If your Clear internet service supports what you need online, it sounds like you made a wise decision. Thanks so much Clear!
I have Clearwire in Jacksonville, FL and it simply does not work most of the time. I can't even browse ebay! It is literally as slow or slower than a dial up connection and Clearwire will not let me out of my 2 year contract when they fail to provide adequate service.
I am very disappointed so far with Clear WiMax. I went to a retail outlet at a mall near me and got lots of guarantees about how fast the service was and even saw on a google earth map what the coverage was at my house and it looked awesome.
After hooking it up and moving it around to every room in the house, I can barely get 1 bar on the modem and get no signal on the USB mobile antenna. Download speed tests reports 750 KBPS from the modem, not the 6 MBPS I am paying for. It's slower then my cable modem.
I promptly called customer service and had a less than stellar experience. They told me that because there are a lot of trees around me that is probably the problem. Trees? Really?
I am in Seattle, and I use Clear as a mobile internet for my laptop. I regularly get 10+ Mbps on speedtest sites, and I haven??t experienced much in the way of bad coverage (outside of a few areas with lots of hills and valleys).
I am using a Clear mobile usb modem right now and it rocks. I bought the $40 a month high speed deal. Month to month , no contract. Easy Easy Easy. I think it can be particular about where you are in room or whatever. Kind of like a cell phone.
Clear seems noticeably faster than our Earthlink DSL, and the connection has been completely reliable so far. Earthlink's connection had been failing to recognize our computers every time, finally the connection went away entirely, and then the company wanted us to pay for shipping and to commit to one year more of service to replace a faulty modem. I had been their customer for more than 14 years. I'm very pleased with Clear so far, and we get way more phone features than we did with AT&T, and for $14 less a month.
Clearwire is nothing but aggrivation and crap. We had it in Jacksonville and it was terrible. constantly lossing the signal. E-mail programs didn't work at all. Then when we tried to quit they attempted to charge us $200 even though they couldn't provide services. They had the nerve to charge me $200 to quit the service. They are sharks and snake oil. Clark you should be embarrassed to even mention them!!!!!!
