I adopted a 6 yr old Papillion puppy mill rescue on May 31, 2010...just one month after my beloved Emily had died from liver cancer. I really wasn't sure if I wanted to be so tied down again or if I could ever love another dog. I have to tell this to everyone..there is no greater joy than witnessing a dog who didn't know how good a hug feels, or what to do with a toy, or what to do with a treat, a dog who just had terror in her eyes become the most adorable, loving, funniest dog I've ever had...to watch the resiliency that a dog can have after being used and neglected. Sure, she still doesn't trust everyone but it will just take time. There are no bad dogs, only owner's who are unwilling to understand what the dog is feeling. Don't expect a dog to be or do what you want them to...it's not about you, it's about giving an animal another chance to have a real life. I can't even begin to relay to you all the joy and pure loveI feel in my heart every moment I'm with her. I think I may get a friend for her...but only if she agrees.
