It is true that the prices and sales staff are very nice, but the service department is the worst i have ever experienced. I purchased a $2,500 GE refrigerator and have had a lot of trouble. Fortunately, I also purchased the extended warranty. I understand that the unreliability of the appliance is not Howards fault, but poor service for the problems is. Remember, I purchased the extended warranty through Howards, not GE. I have had Howards out for repairs and they never have the parts in stock, so repairs take two to three weeks. How they expect me to live without a refrigerator for that length of time is beyond me, but they do. Recently, I called again because the freezer wasn't working, but the refrigerator was. After their repairman changed parts, I think he guessed at the problem, none of the refrigerator worked. The funny thing in the whole issue is that they told me that if the refrigerator is working when the serviceman shows, I'll be charged a service call. It was an intermittent problem. But after the repairman left, it was a permanent problem. I would rather have a bad sales staff, but a good service staff. After sales service is the MOST important thing. Unfortunate for Howards, they have no competent service staff.
