I went into The Luggage Center and asked for a durable umbrella. The salesperson directed me to a $30 Samsonite.
I had owned it for one week and was using it for the second time when I tapped the tip on the sidewalk. (It wasn't raining and I was walking with the umbrella closed.) The plastic tip broke into three pieces and fell off.
When I went to The Luggage Center and asked for a replacement or a refund, the regional manager, Jaktar, pointed to a small sign by the register that said, "Sales on umbrellas are final." I pointed out that the umbrella rack I had been directed to was on the opposite side of the store and that there was no sign there. Jaktar was utterly intransigent; he refused to replace my week-old umbrella or to give me a store credit or a refund.
I was shocked and disappointed by his total indifference to me as a customer. I encourage you to consider purchasing your luggage, umbrella, etc. online because you'll surely find a better price and you will necessarily receive better customer service because The Luggage Center is as bad as it gets.
