I went to this hair cuttery for the first time recently. Prior this visit I had been going to a very expensive salon and while it was luxurious, they did not listen to how I wanted my hair cut and charged a fortune for it. I decided that I could live without the frills and chose to try hair cuttery instead.
I saw Hoi who was extremely attentive and gave me a great new cut (taking about three inches off the length and layering my hair as well as adding side bangs). Hoi listened to what I wanted, and during cutting he even asked me if I wanted to look at different areas of my hair just to make sure that he was cutting it exactly how I wanted. He also shampooed and blow-dried my hair and did an excellent job with both.
Hoi himself was extremely polite. Although he is quieter than some of the female stylists, he is very friendly and we had a nice chat while he cut my hair. He works extremely hard to please his customers and unlike many he actually cares whether or not you like your new haircut.
The salon itself is not super fancy* but I don't mind that because I got a haircut that I love at an extremely reasonable price. I went during the weekday when it was not busy so I did not have to wait. In fact, many of the other stylists were just sitting around. So I recommend going on a weekday afternoon if you don't like to wait. I was definitely pleased with my visit and will definitely be back.
I recommend going to Hoi for both men and women's hair cut/styles. He did an excellent job with my hair and my brother went to him also for a traditional barber cut and like me, he was extremely pleased with the results.
* I was told they will be moving to the new Burtonsville shopping center (across the road near the new Giant) in the spring and so they will soon be in a brand new salon.
