I called Beach Plums for the first time in mid-July and the loveliest, calm and most patient lady was please to answer their consigning policy questions. This nice lady said they only take Designer Clothing. I took photos of all the clothing I brought and kept them on the memory card of my camera. The next day I took 16 items of clothing. One was from Potpourri Designs with the tags on. The lady said "We don't take this designer. We never heard of them". They take "Talbots", "Liz Claiborne" and even "The Express". I was told the policy and understood it. I called and they told me certain items were sold and marked them off my sheet. The store marks a consignor's items half price after 30 days. The store and the consignor split the sale 50/50. I went in the day before my unsold items were "to be given to charity" to collect them. I walked in cheerfully and smiling and different woman was at the desk from before. I told her what I was there for and also asked if all the summer clothing on the rack in the entire store was half price? She was talking in circles and told her I didn't understand and she snapped at me and degraded me. I went from a great mood to a very bad one. I raised my voice and told her she is very rude and degrading and how dare she treat anyone in the store that way. She was still nasty and I raised my voice louder and said it was my first time going thru consigning and my clothes are pristine and lovely and she's working for me and she's not the only consigner around and that her attitude was degrading and appalling. I then asked where the owner was. She replied, "I am the OWNER! I replied, "You've got to be kidding me"! I had my own business an would never treat a customer rudely like she was then I asked her name. Also told her to get my clothes, give me my money and I'm consigning somewhere else the following week. She asked nastily, "What's your account number"? I provided it and had my copy of the clothing that the nice lady itemized in detail six weeks before. So, while she's doing her thing, I decided to look for my clothes on the racks. One unworn piece from Talbot's was missing and I was thinking, "Oh boy, this is going to be a showdown". I pulled out my camera to show her the piece on the memory card. She found it in the dressing room. She said I have to come back for my check in mid September. She's too cheap to mail it!!! Ten out of the 14 items sold. It was a most disturbing experience. I told her earlier that she was cranky. She's so nasty, I was shocked!!! I could have easily left my clothes to be "given to charity", but I have a strong feeling they don't go to charity at all but consigned the folowing year. They had non-designer labels I see at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Her employees are lovely and very very nice, but she's the flipside like a demon.
