Steve, the baker, (also an environmental engineer) claims the all of the donuts they make have seasoned the walls, the ovens, the pans and all the equipment - resulting in the best and most unusual tasting pretzel imaginable, and only available on Saturday mornings. Behind the bakery success here are a confluence of factors: awesome recipes, an open door to Benny - the old world Italian baker who still comes in everyday to help out or dine, Robin the ultra inventive and talented cake/cookie decorator (a speech therapist in another life) and Eric, now a 6 year veteran baker and product of Saline High School's chef Mundo. Sprinkled in the cracks are a loyal cadre of part-time counter, bakery helpers and customers. This is a small town bakery at it's very finest. What makes this bakery so special? The pretzel? the donuts? The cakes/cookies? The bakers? The staff? The loyal customers? The authentic small town atmosphere? Not sure which it is... must be magic.
