Glen Ellyn, IL
I've been there a few times in the past several months. Each time I have had poor service. It was slow, not very friendly, took a long time just to be acknowledged, took a very long time to receive food. I was treated rudely after complaining and asking questions. I don't think that customer inquiries should be treated as offenses.
Each time I have been there I have noticed that the restrooms are dirty, and usually don't have paper towels. This is puzzling since the place is usually not very busy.
On a busy night, the crowd has been obnoxious and unfriendly to outsiders. It makes one think that West Chicago is the stepchild of the western suburbs. The patrons seem to mostly consist of friends of the owners, who want to be part of the in-crowd and be acknowledged by them.
The food is very plain and standard affair for a fast-food restaurant with slightly higher prices. Exotic names and unusual choices probably appeal to someone who doesn't know better. The owners act as if your causing an inconvenience if you ask for something.
There is nothing special about the liquors they have in stock. When you ask for a drink, the bartender takes a few minutes to look it up in a book and might have a conversation with friends before they start to make the drink.
The entertainment has not been impressive. I have seen a pretty awful hip-hop group there and a punk rock band that was, well, punk rock.
Everything seems to be overpriced.
The good thing about this place is that there is really nothing else to do and nowhere else to go if you are a young person living in the area. So, for $7 (the minimum just to walk in the door any day of the week), you can visit a uniquely decorated bar/hookah lounge and smoke til your heart's content inside an establishment that serves food and liquor. It's a great place for youngsters who have never been anywhere, but probably not where you want to go if you are looking to enjoy a mature crowd with good taste in an upscale atmosphere.
