Recently written by me to Joe, the store manager ...
As a long time and loyal customer of D'Alessandro Meat Market, I feel it is necessary to thank you for your recent reaction to errors completely the fault of employees there at your store. I have been buying 3 to 6 foot hero's there for several occasions for many years now, going back to the times when I could just call and place an order on the phone, without leaving a credit card number and that was many years ago.
As you may, or may not remember, I was in there recently and spoke to you regarding an ordered American hero, that was made Italian. As I explained to you, this hero was for children for a party. My children and their friends are not fans of Italian cold cuts, and that's why American was ordered. As you saw, your brother wrote A.M. for American and someone else scribbled Italian on the paper. I'm sure you remember it now.
The reason I am writing this letter is due to the fact that not only did I get a sandwich I didn't order and have to buy pizza for the kids at the party, but I was insulted by your offer of giving me a 10% discount on my next order? 10%? I spent almost $50 buying pizza because of YOUR stores error. Personally, you telling me that you would be making the hero at cost after a 10% discount is of no concern of mine and should not even be part of the equation because the error was totally on the part of your employees, not mine. My next order should have been free, or AT THE VERY LEAST, discounted 50%. Your insulting discount of 10% shows your disrespect for your steady customers.
As a result of these actions, I decided to try Fairway Market, located in Douglaston and, what a difference! Did you know they sell 3' Steak (REAL steak) hero's with grilled onions and 6 lbs of salads and a huge Cesar Salad for $60? The steak was unbelievably tender. I also bought a 3' Grilled Chicken with fresh store pulled Mozzarella and roasted red peppers without the salads for $45! Several people at my party asked where I got the hero's and even asked for pieces to take home. Unfortunately, several of those people were D'Alessandro customers too.
In closing, I would, once again, like to thank you for the lack of respect you showed me when I came into your store on 1/30, despite the fact that your employees were 100% wrong. Your decision to offer me a 10% discount is what led me directly into the Fairway Market store. So on behalf of myself and the people who attended my Super Bowl party, I thank you, for indirectly supplying the best food I have ever had at a Super Bowl party.
