I've had one fabulous therapist who was dedicated and true to his craft and I've had a therapist who was bored, annoyed, and mainly concerned about paperwork and insurance. Dr. David Lai is unfortunately the latter. During our sessions, he would request that we spend 15-20 minutes of the $160/hour session silently meditating. I enjoy meditating, mostly at home or at the SF Buddhist Temple (on Bartlett street), but it was frustrating that he was adamant about doing this during our session. He was condescending towards my reluctance rather than open and respectful of it. It was a very odd experience working with Dr. Lai and I feel it's very important to share this with other potential clients looking for a quality therapist.
