On 7/4/2013 I purchased my permanent camper/camp site at Apache and I couldn't be happier. To be fair, it is no Ocean Lakes but I wouldn't have been able to afford what I own at Apache over at O.L. The campground isn't as big as O.L. or NEARLY as crowded. Apache has nightly entertainment on the Pier which, as an owner in the park me and my guests have free access to for scheduled entertainment, fishing or just a stroll. Tammy's Tangent (cover band that plays some original music) was the band that played one night this past August and to sit in the Atlantic breeze with a couple of beers listening to them jam out was a real treat. Croaker's at the pier (croakersatthepier.com) has very good food at very reasonable prices and is a handy alternative to leaving the park for a meal when you're feeling lazy. Just hop on the golf cart and go. Many people complained about the size and proximity of campsites to one another and I guess I can see that argument if you are a transient camper and/or have a huge rig but the yearly value of buying a used site from someone else who has already sunk the money in it sure made a lot of sense to me. Once I realized the only reason I kept a $8000 travel trailer in my driveway was to go to the beach anyway, I'd rather just drive my car to my permanent beach house where I already have some clothes, a washer/dryer and all the other comforts of home - just get in the car and GO! Every one I talk to when I'm there (which has been about every other weekend so far) when I ask how long they have owned their site, it is almost always 10-30 years as the response. There is a reason people buy into Apache and continue to stay and pay their annual dues to be there and that's because it is a GREAT way to own a place within walking of a golf cart ride away from an adequate pool or the ocean, fishing and/or a decent meal. We plan to come back often and take advantage of our home away from home for many many years to come!
