Dont believe the no negative review hype. Dont get snowed by Offer Steuers initial nice guy charm. Dont wind up with a pretty kitchen that, in all the important ways, is completely incorrect, like I did. Dont have to hire an attorney and file a CSLB complaint against OTM like I have (which Steuer has ignored for over two months.) I have long list of gory details about our kitchen remodeling experience with OTM, starting with coming home from a trip on a Sunday after the 1st 2 days of demolition to find every surface of my home covered in a thick film of filthy dust, and my deck storage box where I keep dogs food and toys used as a garbage bin. I should have stopped the project then and there, but I gave Steuer the benefit of the doubtand it only got MUCH worse. But, the details of the actual experience pale in comparison to the most important fact: My kitchen was left TECHNICALLY INCORRECT by OTM. Its pretty, because I had a vision and I stuck to itregardless of Steuers suggestions, most of which in hindsight were to make his job easier, not to create the kitchen I wanted. (I have a long list of examples of this also.) Heres the bottom line: if you want to do a remodel and you really only care that it LOOKS ok on the outside and the cabinets have all the cool stuffbut you really dont want to have to look TOO closely at details and you arent interested in the technical correctness of the installation, and you dont want to ask any hard questions and you dont care about safety or building codes, and youll buy into anything anyone tells you because hes nice, then OTM may be your choice. But MY experience in the end was completely different than any review Ive read. So, all you happy 5 star Reviewers who loved everything about OTM, I challenge you to LOOK CLOSELY and ask these questions: Is your remodel to Code? And how do you know, if you were told (like I was by Steuer) that permits didnt NEED to be pulled? When you go to sell your home and it gets inspected, how many things will you find wrong in your kitchen that were covered up by OTMs smoke and mirrors (like pointing your attention to insignificant, but fun things, like I got you got a cool message center and look at the great the lazy susan) But were your appliances installed CORRECTLY? Are they 100% serviceable? Or did Steuer tell you he was doing a custom installation (meaning he didnt leave room in his cabinet design for obvious things like gas lines and electrical plugs, and thereby hardwiring, for example, a $1500 wine refrigerator voiding its warranty, like mine? Did he say he never uses the safety anti-tip brackets on Sub Zero refrigerators? (If so, I hope you hired a certified Wolf installer to finish the job correctly like I did.) Did he ask you if these things were ok with you, and did you say yes, because you trusted his ability to provide you with the correctness for which you were paying a premium price? I did. And judging from MY kitchen, its apparent that Steuer either has extremely limited knowledge and capability to provide the safety and correctness that I expected and paid for.or he does NOT care, and is more concerned with paying his installers for 2 days instead of 1 to do the job CORRECTLY. Because he left my kitchen with voided warranties due to improper installations, a fire hazardous and unserviceable installation of a Wolf range, and none of my kitchen is to Electrical code. We learned this when a friend who remodeled her kitchen saw ours and pointed out minor things, like absence of GFI outlets, which made us wonderand begin to get real answers from other professionals. And his response to our questions of OTMs substandard work is that it was not his responsibility. So, I am working with a reputable legal firm to file a legitimate complaint against his license, because I dont want anyone else to be snowed like I was. If wed never asked the right questions and had not been physically present for most days of the installation to personally witness the ineptness of it all, I might be innocently (and ignorantly) writing a glowing review with a completely incorrect, but pretty kitchen. (If I overlook all the tiny little quality details that arent rightbut dont get me started.) We began asking detailed, difficult questions of Steuer during the installation when things didnt seem right. And when we didnt accept his standard answers of things like Its fine, thats how it is, we do this all the time, his demeanor changed instantly, and things went south. I hired Offer Steuer and OTM for expertise, knowledge, and years of experience in the business. I believed him when he said he would give me the kitchen of my dreams. OTM failed. I was not told the truth, and legitimate questions are still not answeredand it now becomes our responsibility to make our kitchen SAFE and CORRECT after paying OTM to do it for us. I do not recommend OTM Designs and Remodeling.
