As a young child I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA), and was told that by the time I turned 18 I would live my life in a wheelchair. I spent countless hours at Shriners Hospital for crippled children visiting with doctors and trying to find ways to get the pain under control. Fast forward 20 years, I wasnt in a wheelchair, however, I was still in a great deal of pain. I was receiving cortisone shots in both knees every three months. Then on 4/12/10 I was in a serious automobile accident that left me with 2 broken vertebrae. The doctors placed me in a back brace and ordered me to strict bed rest in fear that one wrong move would paralyze me. After months of bed rest, physical therapy, and doctor appointments I was released from everything. I remember being told by many that I would never be the same. It was even suggested I give up and go on disability. However, not knowing how determined I am, I promised myself that was not going to happen. In April 2013, just 3 years after my accident I contacted HomeFit through a groupon add. That is when they hooked me up with Ali. Ali and I talked about a meal and exercise plan and what I wanted to get out of all this. He assured me I would get there, but it would take time, patience, and determination. While working with Ali in the past year, I have built muscle tone, strengthened my core, and reduced my body fat tremendously. My doctor was extremely impressed and shocked that I have come so far in the past year. I have been taken off all medication and have not needed a cortisone shot in well over a year. My doctor credits my change to my diet and exercise plan, which I credit to my trainer Ali. If it wasnt for Ali and HomeFit, I might still be on medication, and maybe even in that wheelchair they told me I would always be in. But instead I am running in 5Ks and 10 mile races to prove to myself, that I can do this. Ali had the vision to see my determination and he has helped me reach goals that even I never dreamed of. I have been to gyms in the past and worked with personal trainers, but Ali put his heart and soul into seeing me reach my goals; and that is a sign of a personal trainer.
