I thought Riverwood would be a great place to live and raise kids. I have lived here for 2 years know and have yet to really meet those nice neighbors that appeared during the house viewings. It seemed like a very nice community at first; however once we moved in people in the neighborhood began to change. People here love to gossip a LOT. You will also notice right away that the people living here have clicks and if you dont know someone here already it is very hard to fit in.
HOA has no concern for you or the Community. They make a LOT of empty promises, and are always ready to right you a fine.
The First thing you can look into, in order to create your on view point, would be to see the " playground" that Riverwood has and expects your kids to play on. You will notice how it isnt shown on any web pages where they are selling a house. Thats because it shows the quality of care and work they put (dont put) into the community. You can find this playground on McCarthy Drive behind the doctors office, and can look and apply your own knowledge for safety. Know that this playground is how they treat just about everything in this neighborhood. It is not even usable for kids. You will notice right away that the wood is rotted so bad you can sit on the benches because there are such massive rotted holes in the, there are nails poking out on it in accessible places to children. You can guaranty splinters in your kids hands just about every time you let them play on it. The worst part is that the HOA requires you to jump through loopholes if you want to ever get one in your own backyard. They want you to plot out on a map the exact location, and demotion of any equipment you want to put up. (If you have a fence it does not mater because they just walk up and look into your backyard at any given time.) After all that you still have to wait for them to come out and approve or deny you. Which can take months sometimes. The ironic thing is your playground (and everything else) has to meet high standards, which is ironic because Riverwood does not meet even basic safety standards for their playground equipment. Another thing to consider before you move in is that here is only one main entrance and one side exit; Which you should consider driving though during work and school hours. It is a very dangerous intersection to make left and turns or goes just across the street during those hours due to the curved road on Pritchard/Smithfield Rd, which cars seem to carelessly fly around. Leaving you no time to make adjustment. Overs all Riverwood is a safe place to live but for the price you pay for you Athletic membership they have nothing outside a pool and Gym for athletics. Like no basketball hoops, Tennis ball courts, for teens to stay occupied with their free time so unless they have a car there is nowhere for teens to burn their energy and free time.
Little dreams is a great preschool, with friendly staff and a great teaching environment. I have had all 3 of my children enrolled in this Preschool I cannot find a better school with all the pros this one has to offer.
The friendly environment little dreamers has, makes it so easy for both parent and child to feel comfortable leaving each others sides. (Even on the first day away from each other)
Everything is kept exceptionally clean, and I love the fact that they get all the kids involved in cleaning up; making the kids feel like cleaning is fun. It always encouraged my children want to sing and clean up at home with ease.
My oldest Went there for 2 years (3s class & Pre K) He not only knew everything required for entry but also tested high on all his entry test for schools in both Wake county and Johnston county. All this credit is due to great teacher making learning so much fun for the children at Little Dreamers.
The tuitions is very affordable for what the school offers in teaching abilities and they are always ready to work with you on any concerns regarding your child's learning. Little Dreams went above and beyond when I had to send my 3 year old in with an EEG test. Im sure you can imagine all the 3year old curiosity with all the wires, yet some how Little Dreams was able to keep my son, and all his fellow classmates from touching any wires, and still getting each of them to learn the days curriculum. Some of you will know the challenges in that.
The best thing about this Preschool is that they ALWAYS have every students best interest at heart. I NEVER had to worry about leaving my kids there. I also loved the convents of their carpool in the morning. You are able to drive up to the side and they will get you child/children out for you and walk them into the school where another teacher assist them into their class. It was very helpful and quick.
My kids went there for 2 and 3 years years and I never had a single problem with this school. I would highly recommend this preschool to any parent looking for a great Preschool AND/OR affordable environment for your child while you get some down time.
