Abe Joseph E Dds

Pasadena, CA Dentists - General Dentists 05/10/06: 'WATCH OUT - HE CHARGES TOO MUCH'

At my company, Idealab, our PPO dental network doesn't include Dr. Abe so the dental insurance will only pay a portion of the reasonable and customary costs. In almost every instance, Dr. Abe charges 20-35% more than the reasonable and customary. Being that he is out of network, the insurance only covers 80% or 50%, depending on the type of service. I had a few cavities and a cleaning, and I ended up paying over $350 out of my own pocket!! OUTRAGEOUS! And no-one ever told me what service I would be receiving; they just did it and then slapped this huge bill on me. Please, please, please, don't go here and get ripped off. The more people that continue paying these outrageously overpriced fees, the more he is inclined to keep charging at such a high rate. As far as I know, Dr. Abe isn't in any dental network because he knows that if he becomes part of a network, that he will have to decrease his rates as much as 50%!!! So don't go here, go elsewhere. there are many great dentists on Insiderpages.com that I could have gone to and paid less than $50 for the same treatment. Try out Dr. Mak for example!!

PROS: he does a good job and is a nice man
CONS: he charges an arm and a leg, and its something you dont have to pay!!

Napa Rose

This is a Napa/Cal. cuisine that is warm and inviting. Nestled in the back of the Grand Californian Hotel at the Disneyland Resort, Napa Rose is an experience you will be telling friends and family about for months after your visit.

The waitstaff is very knowledgeable in all the dishes and especially the wine pairings (they are known for their extensive wine list that can be paired with each course).

This is a very popular and very expensive restaurant so be ready to (1) wait for your table and (2) spend an exorbitant amount of money on the food you eat. It is worth every minute of wait and every dollar spent...

We started off with an arugola salad with cranberries and candied pecans, which was amazing. Then came pheasant and dumplings, a perfect blend of flavors and spices, served in a bronzed mini pot.

The two entries we ordered were red venison on a potato based bed and new york strip on a bed of layerd chese potatos (looked like potato cheese based lasagna.

We had wine with our appetizers and entries. The experience took about 2 hours and we loved every minute of the meal.

I would reccomend this to anyone who is willing to spend a little bit more money (with wine, appetizer and entre and tip, the per person cost was about $70) but can be guaranteed a meal they will never forget!!

PROS: see the review - it is pretty comprehensive
CONS: none except it is hard to get a table some nights

Brazos Valley Golf & Games

This is one of the less great Putt Putt Golf centers I have ever been to. The greens on the course are all old and need to be replaced. Your ball hopes and goes off course because there are thin spots in the green turf. They have a set of marginal games (at best) and the bumper boats are never running. Also, they have batting cages, but all of their bats and helmets are old and ragged.

The staff has NEVER been pleasant and when you ask for your prize for making a hole in one, they couldnt be more melancholy.

bad experience, time after time.

Lone Star Golf Academy

This is a driving range that is right down from where i grew up. I used to ride my bike here with a driver and an iron in hand, and work on my swings after school.

They have been here for ever and the staff is so great! I think a large bucket of balls is just a few bucks, and there are plenty of stations, so you never have to wait.

International Discount Golf

Pasadena, CA Golf - Equipment & Supplies 10/06/05: 'Feels like a mom and pop'

I am not sure if this is a family owned place or a small chain golf store, but it certainly feels like a mom and pop business. I broke the head off my callaway driver and they were so kind and understanding (they didnt even laugh at me for it :)) They had the club shipped off to callaway and they covered the shipping. All I had to do was pay for the parts and labor, and it was ready in 1 week. I have been in there on three different occasions, and each time, they recognized me. When i went into pick up my club, the called me by name and grabbed my newly fixed club without me even letting them know why i was there. great service!!

Aggieland Flowers & GIft Shoppe

This is a flower shop I have been going to for years. They always seem to have competitive prices, but if you are looking for a speciality arrangement or special flowers, you may want to go somewhere else. I found that roses and other basic flowers, they have great selection and prices. Their gift baskets are pretty good as well. Some nice creativity going on there.

Parker Astin Hardware

Bryan, TX Hardware Stores 10/05/05: 'Home Town Service with a Smile'

This is one of the best family owned businesses I have ever used. I worked down the street from this place. The owner himself came down to our business and helped me set up the shelving that we bought from him. A truly amazing gentleman. All of the employees have worked there forever, and all know their stuff. They all stay for so long because the owner is so kind and generous to his employees!

Huntington Library Art Collections and Botanical Gardnens

San Marino, CA Libraries 10/05/05: 'It's like Heaven on Earth'

The gardens are so amazing, and so relaxing. I think the cost to get into the museums and gardens is about $15 per person. But you can buy a yearly membership for $100 (thats for a family) and it is a tax writeoff. We go as much as possible, as there are always new exhibits opening. There are exquisite gardens and amazing artwork! The people who work there are kind and considerate. A truly joyfull experience~

Davis & Davis

This is a superb law firm. I don't want to disclose why I was using them, but I can definaely reccomend their services. Fred Davis is a good friend and he worked endless hours to help out with the situation. Legal fees will always be expensive, but they are definitely worth the price! Their secretaries are so kind and welcoming, and the paralegals all are very helpful!!

Lighthouse Christian Bookstore

Pasadena, CA Book Stores 10/05/05: 'great selection great service'

This place is a jewel. Every time I go here, i get excellent service. They are always so helpful and usually will take me to the book I am looking for. It is so great- last time I was in the bookstore, they spent 10 minutes looking for a book, only to find that they didnt have it. So they then ordered it for me! This is the best Christian Bookstore I have ever been to!
