Oak Canyon Nature Ctr

I went to the O.A.K.S. summer camp when I was little and it was definately a worthwhile experience. It definately instilled a love of nature and environment in me. And it's mostly shady so it is a great place for a short hike when other places might be too warm.

I had been to Oak Canyon many times growing up, and I would definitely say that it helped to instill in me a great love of nature. The atmosphere of the center is very calm and safe, so it makes for a great family excursion. The trails aren't too steep or too extreme, so it's a great place for kids to hike as well as adults. The nature center offers a variety of programs for kids and offers group tours, though I never personally participated in either. Staff is always at hand, and they will answer any questions you might have without hesitation.

The Nature Center is just beautiful. There are plenty of hiking trails,. a creek and picnic tables so you can eat lunch. The center has a great kids room with a few animals - some birds and fish. There is a small nature tables with interesting things for the kids to touch, like a molted snakeskin, for example. It is so peaceful and relaxing.
