Camp Galileo runs week long summer camps for kids all over the Bay Area, not just in Palo Alto. My kids have attended the one in Palo Alto several times. Each summer they have about 3 different weeks worth of subject matter repeated over the summer so you can sign up for more than one week and do different things.

The counselors are one of the best things about the camp: they find really great people who really make the camp special. My kids had a great time, even my son who doesn't always like the whole camp thing.

See the web site: http://www.campgalileo.com for more information.

Although this camp can be pretty pricey, it is worth my piece of mind to know that my kids are being well-cared for by the enthusiastic counselors and that they are having a blast. It's really great for the younger kids K-3, but as my son got older, he "grew out of it" a bit at the 4th and 5th grade level.

PROS: Good Counselors
CONS: Expensive

Camp Galileo offers camp sessions for K-5 (at least).

The counsellors are outstanding. They are enthsiastic and very fun.

My kids like the variety of activities offered. The kids come home tired but happy.

The camp is well organized, educational, fun, and offered in enough locations that it is close to home. It is also scaled to be age appropriate. One daughter likes the science segment, the other prefers the art, both love the sports. The counselors are enthusiastic and caring. Extended care until 5pm!
