Great shop. They built a custom hot rod for me and it was a great experience. Top quality work and really nice people to work with. Chris's custom metal work and outstanding paint as well as Pamela's upholstery on my car is just breathtaking. I have reffered many of my friends to them and everyone who has gone to then have been very happy. Once you see the shop and the cars they build you will be convinced. My car has won first place at every show it has been to. Thanks again Chris and Pamela for the great work.

Chris and the guys at WCAC recently wrapped up a full build on my 69 Camaro. They exceeded my expectations. They replaced both quarters, trunk pan, frame rails, mini rubbed, installed a complete Ridetech suspension, rewired entire car, custom exhaust and added several touches to the body.

I gave Chris the liberty to express his creativity and show me what he would do if it was his car. The rendering he designed was awesome, reminiscent of the old Trans Am series cars. His vision of a custom build grille, widening the body and many other little touches really made it one of a kind. I get compliments all the time.

Chris went way above and beyond on my build. The body is laser straight and the paint is perfect. I really appreciate all the hard work.

My car was recently finished by West Coast. The quality was top notch. Far exceeded my expectations. They did all kinds of extra things that I did not ask for, but really made the difference. It took a while, but I was in no hurry. I highly reccomend them.

Amazing shop. These guys can build anything. They built me a custom steel hood and dash from scratch, painted my car, installed an LS3, suspension, and brakes. Car looks amazing and price was very fair. I will be coming back for a custom interior this summer.

I had my Chevelle built by West Coast. The work they do us outstanding. The creativity of their designs and craftsmanship is unmatched by any shop in the bay area. I really enjoyed the artist mantality they have. I already had everything figured out and knew exactly how I wanted my car built before I met with Chris. After sitting with him for one hour it became obvious to me that he was a genius when it comes to design. I asked him to give me any suggestions he might have as to how he would do the car if it was his own. A week later he emailed me a rendering with different colors, paint scheme, and wheels than anything I had ever thought of. The car in that drawing was the most amazing muscle car I had ever seen.

Now my car is finished and looks even better than the rendering. I am getting ready to build car number two sobi drive up to the shop (only 1 and a half hours from the east bay) and was blown away by their new facility. The capabilitys the have are amazing. A full blown metal shaping and fabrication shop, body shop, paint shop, mechanical shop, wood shop, and upholstery shop pretty much will cover every aspect of any build. Such a gem hidden up in the country. If you really want to be impressed take a drive up and check it out yourself.

As for my working with them, all I can say is just be patient and open minded. They have a lot if innovative ideas and take their time. The result is amazing quality. If you are looking for a hurry up and "get ER dun" shop, this is the wrong place.

This is the real John S. Someone is posting reviews under my name. Chris did the body and paint on my 68 Camaro and it came out awesome. They are also doing my interior. I can be contacted on Lateral G or Protouring under the username John510 via PM. The car will be available for viewing at all the upcoming shows and you can see the quality for yourself. And STOP pretending to be me on these reviews whoever you are.

I would like to share the experience I had with West Coast Auto Craft. I brought them my Porsche a few years ago. I was doing the restoration myself in my garage and just wanted someone to do the body and paint. Chris was referred to me by American Stripping in Sacramento (the business that did the blasting for me). Chris came to my house (almost 3 hours from his shop) free of charge and looked over the car, made some suggestions, and gave me an estimate. He seemed very professional and had a list of references that I called and spoke with. The thing I thought interesting is that he told me that he was not going to "cherry pick" and give me his best references (which I suspected he would do), but rather give me a mixed bag of his good clients and a few that he had difficulty with. Being a business owner I understand that you cant make everyone happy and you will always have some PITA customers. I called and spoke to the references. As I suspected, the good customers gave him a GLOWING recommendation. I found a common theme that was he really loves the cars and went overboard on the details and quality. The not so good customers had some complaints about time frame, communication, and price, but not one had a bad thing to say about the quality of the workmanship. The thing I was surprised by was that even the most hostel customer with the most complaints told me he would still go back to West Coast if he ever needed another paint job. I went ahead and had Chris come and get my car.

The process took a turn for the worse when he started to open up my rockers and rear quarter panels to do some rust repair. It turned out to be much worse than we had expected. Chris kept encouraging me that it would all work out in the end. It was painful to pour the money into this car knowing I would never brake even on the car if I had to sell later. The project became very frustrating since the costs went up and the time frame increased. Chris had hoped to have the car done for me in 3-6 months (which seemed to be a long time to me to paint a car) and when the dust settled it took nearly 13 months to complete my car and the cost nearly doubled from the original estimate due to all the extra rust that was found and had to be dealt with. We ended up replacing all the floor pans, quarter panels, and rocker panels. I was not real happy with the experience. What started as a fun project turned into a total headache for me. My car did look great, but how long it took and the price tag took away from the experience.

Now you might be reading this and be a little confused as to why I am giving them a 4 star rating with all of this complaining. If I were to have given this rating a year ago it would have been 2 or 3 stars. Finishing the car and taking it to a few Porsche Club Events I have learned quite a bit and have grown to appreciate Chris and what he does. While working with an upholstery shop I learned that the industry standard for this kind of job is 2 years. My upholstery guy told me that most shops will tell you a year and if they get it done in 2 they did well. My upholstery guy (who has specialized in Porsche restoration for 30 years) was extremely impressed by the quality of all the work that Chris did and thought that the time frame and price was reasonable. This made me feel better. I guess I was just a little behind the times. I remember when a paint job ran about $2500 and was done in a few weeks.

Next I got the car driving and took it to a few Porsche Club sanctioned events. Every club member that has restored their car had the same kind of information as my upholsterer. I heard horror stories about body guys, stolen parts, poor workmanship, 5+ year turn times, paint bubbling up later, rust coming through bondo, and come to find out I paid less than the average job of equal complexity. Every single person that looked over my car is impressed with how great it came out. Every event that is judged I win an award. I have even had one of the biggest Porsche experts in the country tell me that the panel replacement is the best he has ever seen.

Looking back now and with my new found education of the whole restoration industry I have come to the conclusion that Chris does wonderful work, is very fair with his prices, and has a lot of experience working with problem children like my car. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that I wish he did a better job of anticipating problems such as my rust issues during the estimating process. Thinking back I am not convinced he really looked closely enough. If I had known what to expect sooner I would have had a much better experience. I highly recommend this shop and my car speaks for itself. If you are looking for a real "artist" to work on your car, and you want an exceptional paint job then you have found your guy in Chris.

These guys did a wonderful job painting our convertible mustang. After working with an independent body man (who worked from his garage) and dealing with that nightmare, we broke down and brought our car to West Coast for the body and paint. I can tell you that it was worth the extra money to get the car done right by people that really care about what they are doing. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it took almost almost 6 months for them to complete the job. Everyone tells me that this is normal for a big restoration job like this, but I just don't understand why it should take so long. If you are looking for a really beautiful paint job by people that love what they do, and you are not in a huge rush to get it finished, then I recommend going to this shop. If I ever restore another classic car there is no other place I would go.

I stumbled across this shop on YouTube. I did not have a big job for them, but Chris took the time to talk to me and check out my project. Some other shop did the restoration on my car and did not finish it up. No other shop wanted to touch it because it was someone else's work and it had so many loose ends. I was told by a few shops that it was a "can of worms" that they did not want to touch. Chris said "no problem, I am really good at puzzles". He had to finish the wiring, fix many bad circuits and shorts, get the engine running, tune the carburetor, set the timing, get the convertible top working, rebuild the brakes, polish the semi-bad paint job, and do the upholstery. Chris attacked the project and knocked it out in just a few weeks. The attention to detail by him and his guys is amazing. It came out spectacular! You can really tell that these guys love what they do.

West Coast Auto Craft finished my car recently. I met Chris and the boys at a car show last year. He came out to my house and gave me an estimate for free. The thing that really made me feel comfortable working with him was the fact that he gave me a list of references that he has done work for. After speaking with 6 or 7 of his references I found some consistency of the stories. Everyone said that Chris and Pam are very good people and that they do exceptional work. As with any group of random clients, a few of them had a few small gripes, but considering how many horror stories I have heard about restoration and body shops I figured that a few small gripes were not that big of a deal. One thing that was clear to me was that I sensed that everyone I spoke with adored Chris and Pam so I entrusted them with my car. Chris had estimated a 3-4 month turn around based on what he could see. Once the car was blasted to bare metal we discovered that the car had a huge amount of rust that was hidden and would need repair. This tripled the time frame and the cost of the estimate. The whole process was extremely stressful for me because of the money and time, but Chris really helped me through all of that. A few different times I questioned weather it was worth it or if my car would ever get finished. Now that is finished and sitting in my garage I can say that it was most definitely worth it. I cant stop looking at my car and everyone who has looked at it has been just blown away by the quality. I don't think I can drive it now. If you are looking for a shop to work with I can give you this advise. West Coast Auto Craft does really incredible work and their expertise and insight is priceless. Feel free to contact me and you can come look at my car or I can email you photo's. My car will also frequent the Good Guys shows in Pleasanton so you can look me up there.

I have a 1966 Corvette that I amateur race. I took it to Chris for a "race car" paint job. I didn't want to spend too much time or effort on paint because I knew the car would get beat on at the track. Chris took on the job at a great price, but hinted he probably would do a little more than what I was asking for. What I got back was a Corvette with a show quality paint job! The only downside is that the car is so nice, I'm afraid to ding it up racing and wrenching on it.

Chris and his crew at West Coast Auto Craft are the real deal. The great thing is their prices allow the average guy access to top notch work.

What a great shop Chris did the body work and paint on my 1970 Fairlane, car was trashed he turned it into a show winner any one that has any concerns could call me and come by and see the car I have sent at least 10 people to Chris and they were all very pleased with his work if you thing 11 or 12 months is to long check the other custom shops it takes that just to get your car in to them, and anyone who complains about making progress payments do not understand his type of buisness, to expect a small company to fund this type of work is absured, don't belive the negative posts about this shop they are untrue or a car owner who would not have been happy no matter who did the work

Chris and Jared did a total restoration on my MGB nearly two years ago. They are savants when it comes to this type of work. They fall in love with every classic car they do and the quality of work is over-the-top. Reading online reviews places one's self at the mercy of disgruntled employees and others with axes to grind. The proof is in the pudding...ask Chris for five references; pick three and ask them for yourself. Every time I've spoken to a potential client of West Coast Auto Craft, they've become new clients...and future references.

Outstanding work. I have to agree with one of the earlier reviews, Chris is not the best at communication, but the work he does in ridiculous! I complained through the whole process about communication. It seemed as though his process was not conventional. I made the mistake of second guessing every step in his process and his advice. This strained my relationship with him to the point of being uncomfortable. Thank god for me that he is very strong headed and would not give in on his beliefs of the process and what my car needed. In the end it was my car that prevailed. When I saw it finished my opinion of Chris and his guys completely changed and I could not commend them enough. I also thought that it took way to long to get it done. When it was in the upholstery shop I spoke with another guy who just had another shop do the same type of job he told me his car took two years. He also pointed out how much better my paint job was than his. He really flipped out when I explained that my car took only 8 months and cost less than his. Since this was my first restoration I guess I did not realize how long it can take. If you are considering West Coast Auto Craft to do your body and paint work I would say don't hesitate.

This car is in Tiburon Ca and Greg is very approachable and frequents the West Coast Concours car shows. This car has won its class at both the Palo Alto and Pebble Beach Concours De Elegance shows. He is very willing to show his car in person and speak about his experience with us potential clients of WCAC. Contact us for his contact information.

West Coast Auto Craft is currently building my car. I am shocked at the level of creativity and quality these guys have. Working with them is so much fun. My only complaint is that it seems like they are a little too busy and it is taking longer than I would have hoped. Chris told me he is trying to be more selective on the work they bring in so that they can focus on fewer, more interesting jobs. At any rate, I do not regret taking my car to them, and I just want to say that if you are considering a shop for a classic or custom car West Coast Auto Craft is the best choice and well worth it!

Absolutely amazing experience! West Coast Auto Craft did all the fabrication and custom paint on my Indian Motorcycle. The paint is absolutely stunning! The shop is owned and operated by a husband and wife and they really do a great job of making their customers feel as though they are part of their family.

I have been building classic cars for over 50 years. I have done business with almost every custom shop in the Bay Area and West Coast Auto Craft is the best. They handled the transportation of my car to and from my house as well as to every independent contractor that worked on my car such as American Stripping in Sacramento for the blasting as well as Finishline Interiors is Santa Clara for the interior. Everything came out better than i expected. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because Chris and Jared have an artist mentality and are not always real good at communicating, but please don't let that sway you away. Considering all the problems with most custom and restoration shops these guys are by far the best. I was completely shocked when I saw my car finished.

West Coast Auto Craft did the bodywork and paint on my 66 Corevette. I told them that is was "just a race car" and it did not need to be perfect. Chris gave me a pretty reasonable estimate based on the fact that he would skip a few of his "normal" steps and not worry about doing a "show quality" job. He finished the car in 3 months (this is light speed for such a huge job) and there is a major problem. The body and paint are so nice that I am having a hard time putting it on the track! I have taken the car to a few Vintage Car Shows (Palo Alto Concourse De Elegance as an example) and have taken home trophies. I never imagined competing as a show car. Chris and Jared's attention to detail is amazing and I can honestly say that they give a lot more than you will pay for. I cant imagine what my car would look like if I paid for a "show" job.

Really good experience. They built and installed a high performance engine for my corvette, rewired the whole car, and tuned everything. Now the car runs great and everything works perfectly. I have had 3 other shops work on this car and this shop was the only one that could figure everything out. The only reason that I gave four stars instead of five is because they had to order the wiring harness three different times. I think they should have a better handle on their vendors, but I also understand that they can only control what they can control. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I had my Pro Touring Camaro painted at West Coast Auto Craft. They Did an awesome job! Chris and the guys did great work, were very honest, and helped me through the whole process. My car has won at the only 3 shows I have taken it to including one trophy for best paint out of 1200 cars! The three negative comments that are also on this site are all from the one guy which I know for a fact is a competing body shop. Just look at some of the cars they have done, speak to a few of their customers, and you will know the truth.
