Keplers is the best book store on the Peninsula. More famous authors read and sign here than any other place I've ever been. Wonderful selection of books, music, etc. The staff knows books... and so do the other shoppers. Fun place just to hang out. I would higly recommend.

Kepler's has been around for ages. They almost closed, but their customers rallied in support and they are open again. That is a testament to how great this store is. It is a place to wander, explore and learn.

A Menlo Park institution for 50+ years, Keppler's is that great bookstore we all crave. It doesn't have *everything*, but oh the experience. Its a place to go and enjoy books, to learn about new authors, to steep in the revelry of books and enjoy the experience of shopping for them. So wonderful, that as the business started to go under as folks starting buying more from Amazon, et al, locals have stepped up to underwrite the business to keep it open. Sometimes love beats profit and its that good a bookstore.

PROS: a great book buying/browsing/discovery experience
CONS: Can be crowded on a weekend - oh well!

Kepler's is great! There was a rumor they were going to tear it down, and I almost started crying. I used to get all my books for middle school there back in the day, and couldn't believe they would tear down such an institution. They always have the best books in stock, and the store is divided into helpful sections. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable- their recommendations never fail! Buy a book and grab a latte at Borrone's next door- one of my favorite places to hang out.

Keplers came back from the brink of closing permanently and are we lucky. The staff is amazing as they are able to recommend books for most reading genres. There is a huge selection of books and magazines.

I am so happy that the amazing fans of Kepler's rallied around saving such a stellar institution! Bookstores are bookstores, but Kepler's is a place of its own. Everything and anything literary can be found. Their guest speakers are always chart toppers, and it is a terrific forum for them to speak. I am pleased that the Bay Area will now have another generation able to experience Kepler's!

We love Keplers Books. It is a family run business with an extensive selection of titles. The children's section is a big draw for my daughter. The book reviews are helpful, and the schedule of visiting authors is impressive. We like to stop in at Keplers, then walk over and sit at Cafer Borrone while we read our latest purchase.

Between frequent author events and being able to browse a wide selection of books in order to choose, there's nothing like shopping at a good brick and mortar book store. And Kepler's is the best of the best. Unfortunately in the age of Amazon that's barely good enough.

Without a huge corporate chain to prop it up, Kepler's almost closed for good recently until the community rallied to arrange funding and a new business structure.

See the web site for a packed list of author visits and family events.

Keplers has been part of the community for years and there is a reason. As an independant bookstore they recently struggled to stay open, but the community came to the rescue because there is no place like Keplers. From the rich selection of books, to the world famous guest speakers and the employees who can help you find just about anything, you are sure to become a loyal customer from the moment you arrive. Keplers is a great place to hang out. The atmosphere is wonderful and once you've purchased your books, you can go to the cafe next door and enjoy your new treasure with a nice cup of apple cider, a glass of wine, or coffee and tea. Don't let Keplers be a place you don't know.

PROS: Parking is easy, there's an underground parking with a lot of space
CONS:

This is a great book store to spend some time browsing. They write little reviews for some of the books that are fun to read. It's not a chain store, so it feels like they aren't just promoting the same books that the rest of the world is promoting. It is next to a fun cafe that sometimes has live music outside. It's also right near the cal train menlo park stop.

This is by far my favorite bookstore and I was so ecstatic when they reopened their doors in October. I love their author events which I am always keeping tabs on to see who they will invite next. The staff there is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have an excellent selection of books as well as a very good magazine section with a lot of literary magazines available.

This is a book lover's bookstore. It's large and roomy yet intimate and comfy, and packed floor to ceiling with a huge selection of books. They especially have a wide selection of non-fiction, something a lot of stores only provide a small collection of. They have a huge children's section as well, and the books are at kid level. I love this store and I'm thrilled they're back in business.

PROS: Great selection, great atmosphere
CONS: Lines can get long and slow during the holidays

Kepler's offers a unique community experience now that it has reopened under a membership program. It offers a mom-and-pop feel with a large-chain selection. Top-notch authors frequently stop by.

Keplers is located just off of downtown Menlo Park. Easy access from the train. Keplers is a large independent bookseller famous for their knowlege and service. They have a wider selection of books than you'd find at the big chain stores. This is great when you don't know exactly what you are looking for. Keplers has a good eye for good book titles and I always find something I've never seen before. The store is well organized and spacious enough to be an enjoyable place to peruse books at a leisurely pace.

I love this store to death. This store has a great selection of books, the staff is helpful, the environment here is just so friendly and welcoming! They host events here once in a while, which is great. I don't really have anything negative to say about this store. It is located in a convenient location (well, for me, anyways). They gave me quite a scare when they said they were going to close but it turns out they aren't closing afterall, thank the lord.

this books store has a good selection of products and puts on fun events like a Harry Potter Party the night before its release. They also regularly have authors come in for readings. The staff is very knowledgeable and the store has a large childrens section. Although it is sometimes challenging to find a place to sit, it is quite comfortable to hang out there. The store carries a large selection of periodicles, including foreing newspapers.

This eclectic, independent bookstore is located right next to the very hip Caf Borrone, so you can read a new book and enjoy a nice cup of coffee whenever you want. This bookstore has a good selection of books, and prices are competitve with Borders. This bookstore is a favorite hangout for many Stanford students.

Kepler's. Just the name stirs many memories for those of us who have lived in the Bay Area for a time. What other bookstore can claim to have been a 'favorite hangout' of the young members of the soon-to-be Grateful Dead?

Medium-sized independent bookstore that carries a wide selection of books. The staff is very knowledgeable and provide great recommendations. It's not the easiest place to browse slowly because there isn't much room to sit and the aisles are narrow.

PROS: Knowledgeable, helpful, friendly staff
CONS: Not an easy place to slowly browse

This is a wonderful independent book store. They have a great selection of authors and various types of literature. I usually come here when I need to find something specific. There is a cafe next door that you can grab a coffee and sit with friends. Also close by is an independent move theatre. Great location.

One of the best independent book stores in the Bay Area. It has a large selection of new books, periodicals and journals. It has a great selection of books from smaller publishing houses and not just the average books at a large chain store. In addition there are a number of events each month with visiting authors conducting book signings and readings with the public.
The staff are very knowledgable and helpful with an suggestions and/or ordering books not in stock.
It is next to an excellent cafe with a large outside patio.
