I love to recommend this store to people who are looking for the perfect instruments. If you are a musician, you will definitely appreciate this place.
5Thank you so much for providing music lovers like me with a store like this. I am happy with the service and the products this store sells.
5Thank you so much for the best service and items you provide to customers like me. My recommendation definitely goes to all of you.
5Recommending the staff and managers of this store to anyone looking for the perfect buying experience. I am surely happy about them.
5what i usually don't find in other music stores, I find it here at Amoeba Music for some reason. Odd but true. Although this is a little bit far from my place, i would still find time to go here and look for records.
4Amoeba carries music of every single genre in CD and Vinyl form. They have a huge selection of used music as well. In addition, they have an amazing amount of DVDs (used and new as well). If you are looking for an out of print DVD or CD or any DVD or CD in general. Amoeba music is your place.

I have never been to a place where the employees are more important than the customers. The selection is the best ever but the customer service is so poor I absolutley refuse to shop there and would rather look online for months for that imposible to find title that I know I could find at Amoeba in a sec. I hate Amoeba and their buisness politics. :)

Amoeba is a superb independent record store with a huge, amazing selection of mainly used and some new CDs and vinyl. You can get lost in the volume of music hereand they have everything including a great classical section. This is the place to check for that hard-to-find album or CD you lost. Their prices tend to be very reasonable, although sometimes the vinyl can be a bit overpriced.

A 2 level, warehouse-sized dreamland for music and movie junkies. Street parking is okay, but they have both an underground garage and a small parking lot. The lower level is dedicated to music both new and used, with CD's, and vinyl dominating over cassettes. A small stage at the rear of the front room host local and national acts on a regular basis. The upper level is dedicated to movies, with new and used DVD's, videotapes and soundtracks
Their used cds and dvds are great bargains, you may find newer stuff to be higher priced than the big chain stores.

Best selection of music I have ever seen. Staff is always at hand to help you out if you need to find something. Great selection of new and used vinyl, both LPs and 7". Also has a large selection of cassettes, videos and posters (including gig posters). The trade ins are fairly generous as compared to other stores, though you would still probably be better off selling your used media online. Whenever I go to Amoeba I end up staying 3-5 hours at least. They've always got something new and used bins are filled daily. You will never come out empty handed!

Wow, everyone else gave it a good review, but I guess mine wouldn't be any different. The only bad part is that I am not able to return the cd's that I bought because I lost the receipt. They tell me that without the receipt I wasn't able to get me a credit. I don't know if the salesperson was just stupid but that's what I was told. But the prices are fairly better than one of those chain music stores. And the people there know their music.

If you're not shopping online and want an in-store experience, this is the place to be for music and media. Check out all of the great poster on the wall - they are all for sale. In addition to a pretty wicked selection and a jazz room that isn't bad, the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Be sure to check out their live music schedule. They get some good artists playing at least a couple of times a week, and not just all rock either. A couple of months ago, they had The Preservation Hall Jazz Band straight from New Orleans.
PROS: Knowledgeable staff
CONS: Parking lot is small and fills up quickly, especially on weekends.

This is a very cool store. Not only do they have a great selection of music, they have a great staff, good prices, and regularly host live appearances and performances by cool musicians.
4Absolutely complete collection of music, both new and used, in every type of genre and for any type of musical taste. Any record, song or album you could want is at this store. Staff is very friendly and very passionate about music. Prices are good, but go for the selection and just to be in awe of how much they carry.

Amoeba is by far the most comprehensive and well-stocked music store in Los Angeles, This place has TONS of stuff, from DVDs to CDs or Vinyl. However, parking can be kind of annoying since they have a very small lot that lot holds about 20 cars tops.
5Amoeba is pretty well-known among the music fanatics, especially in the underground music scene. It is a huge music store that carries cd's, movies, tapes, and all kinds of music. They even hold in-store shows and autograph sessions. The employees are helpful. Great place to go.

The Amoeba Music store on Sunset is an amazing establishment that boasts new and used CDs, DVD, posters, and everything-rock-memorabilia. Its floors are stacked with classics and new bands screaming rock credibility. It is only a few steps away from the Arclight movie theater and the trendy, new Hollywood hotspot, Cabana club. The best thing about this record store is the massive independent selection. A definite must-see when hitting Sunset Blvd.!

When you get to Amoeba, bring your calander. They have lots of free shows there. These bands aren't just small bands either. Their selection of cd's is great, many of which are hard to find. Definitely a place to stop if you're in the area.
5Amoeba is a music lovers dream. This is the perfect spot to visit when youre looking for any style or era of music. Looking for a tape, CD, record etc... then look no more this place has it all and I have yet to be dissatisfied There staff is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and has you in and out ASAP, even with the long lines. It often gets crowded but don't worry its definitely worth the wait because there prices are fantastic, they always have what your looking for and your bound to leave with something that you werent expecting to buy. Don't waste your time with the national chains that never have what youre looking for new or old.

This music store has an amazing selection of music. You can find anything you're looking for new or old chances are they have it. Their selection of vinyl is unmatched by any other music store that I have been to. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about music. This store is huge and it will take someone several visits before they can see everything in this store.

This is the greatest music store! They have almost everything ever recorded and more. If you're looking for an old CD or movie and can't find it anywhere else, Amoeba is a sure bet to have it in stock. The other great thing about this store is that they will buy all your old music and movies.

If you are looking for top 40 pop music, go find a Barnes & Noble. If you're looking for slightly wider range of things to listen to, Amoeba is where you need to go. they have an impressive collection of just about every style (e.g. Ska, Electronica, Jazz, etc.) on vinyl, CD, and DVD. They'll even buy your old stuff from you (beware: they don't buy the crap --- only the good stuff).
PROS: incredible selection

Im not a big fan of shopping, like most Amoeba-ites are. Some people will spend hours just browsing for something good, or rare. Me? I just find what I need and get out. But thats the thing, Amoeba caters to both types. Theyre organized, they're helpful and you could spend days in there, if you wanted to. Great location. Great deals. Great in-store shows.
PROS: Service, selection, price, everything.
CONS: Oh so big!!

I always bring out-of-towners to Amoeba. Who doesn't like music and Amoeba has absolutely everything you can think of (new or used). I have also sold them cd's. You can get an in-store credit or cash for used cd's and dvds but the in-store credit is worth more. They frequently have in-store concerts as well. A place of genius.
PROS: look no further for records, cd's and dvd's

This is one of the best record stores ever! They have such a great selection of CDs here - in all kinds of genres, such a huge amount of good stuff, not to mention the videos. I have found so many movies here that I couldn't find anywhere else - lots of really unexpected finds here.

Amoeba Music in Hollywood is by far the best music and DVD store in all of Los Angeles. They have an unbelievable selection of both new and used CD's in every genre. When I first came here, I was blown away by the sheer enormity of it all. CDs, vinyl, DVDs--it's got it all. Rarities, imports, used and new! They even buy your music and movies, too! When in town, check them out!
PROS: incredible selection, reasonable prices, knowledgeable staff
CONS: limited parking (metered/small adjacent + undergound lots)

This is the place to go for music - of any kind! It's easy to get lost there, so either plan a few hours, or know exactly what you're going for, because this place is HUGE! Excellent selection of everything rare and common! Find litterally anything here!
PROS: Everything you could ever need!
CONS: Huge! Is that a pro? or a con? Depends how much time you have to spend!

I have never seen a cd store as big as this one! I was very impressed with the large selection of cds. There is 2 floors here, the first floor has nothing but cds! The second floor has some cds and mostly movies. I have never had trouble finding the cd I want! They always have cds in stock.

This record store is really top notch. The selection is amazing in both records and cds. They have large sections for all different genres of music and the atmosphere is very fun and hip. They often have in store live performances by lots of famous and more eclectic artists. The sales people are pretty knowledgable and will help you out. It gets pretty crowded but it is definitely worth it for the selction you will find. There are a lot of used cds as well and you can also sell your old records and cds if you wish.

I could spend all day in this two-story, warehouse of a store. They've got everything: new/used CD's, DVDs, posters. vinyl, imports, you name it. The only drawback is the return policy. Exchange only.
4The store's location is not that great nor is the inside (it all looks messy and has a weird smell to it), but you can spend a whole day in this store. They have pretty much every cd and movie you can imagine. If you are looking for that hard to get cd or movie, they'll most likely have it. From national, international, new, old they have it all. The best music/movie store I've ever been to.

i love this music store. there is always lots to look at and buy there. we love to buy their cd's, download the music onto the iPods, and return them within 7 days for 75% of the purchase price. then, we use the credit to buy more cd's.
5The vynil mecca of llos angeles! They buy, sell, and trade cd's, lp's, dvd's, tapes. They also sell posters, t-shirts and bags.
They have a cool web site at amoebamusic.com
Ok, so I exagerated, it's not perfect. It is however tons and tons and tons of fun. This place has more music than you can dream of - all kinds. There is more than 1 location as there is also one in San Francisco and, I think , one in Berkeley. So what if it's a bit crowded and some things are hard to find? It's still AMAZING to eexerience so much different music in one place - a true retailing phenomenon. To get used CDS in this vast collection is so unusual.
PROS: Amazing selection and variety
CONS: Can be hard to find your way around

GO. GO RIGHT NOW. This is by far one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE music stores. Their selection is beyond anything I've ever seen before. They sell both new and used CDs, but you definitely want to go to get the deal on the used stuff. You can find basically any album you can think of and walk out only paying a few bucks for it. Music stores like this are rare, so definitely keep it a live!! They also have a great movie section, all priced really well - great selection -

If you are looking for cds then this is the place for you. You will find a good amount of new and used dvd's and cd's. You will also find listening stations. The prices here range from inexpensive to average. This is one of the best cd stores. I highly recommend Amoeba Music.

This place has every single cd covering all genres ever its amazing how massive it is its quite intimidating i mean you dont know where to start its so huge. This place is always packed and the staff is huge and all know where everything is thanks to their computers that probably categorizes everything in the store. What makes this store amazing is the dvd selection they have all the movies you expect and even those you dont expect especially foreign ones and imports that arent even sold in any other stores. Plus the prices are always cheap so this is the place to shop for cds or dvds.

I know there are other reviews like this, so I won't stress the music. The main thing to mention is that they have many good film titles here. You can find excellent Lumiere old silent films that are released on DVD. Also it's right next to the cinerama dome, so you can hit up two birds with one stone. Kinda pricey for a Dvd, so it's kinda worth the atmosphere, only if you want to immerse yourself in the emo-punk crowd.

As a jazz junkie, this place is a haven for rare selections, used classics, and an abiding appreciation for great jazz reflected in its knowledgable staff. These folks know their stuff. They also have rare collectibles aside from the vinyl, so check it out just for the sheer surprise of it all. Wierdly, they have their Latin jazz section set off in the main store area where all the pop stuff is. So, don't they they forgot it while perusing the jazz area. Of course, their selections of all other music types is exceptional. Parking is across the street at a parking garage. No deals on pricing, but that's not what beckons anyway. Besides, the used CDs can make up for any economic break you need.
PROS: great jazz selection, new and used; extremely capable and learned staff
CONS: traffic in Hollywood

Overwhelming selection of music. Always a "must" stop while visiting the Arclight/Cineramadome cinema!
5Amoeba music has an excellent selection of new and used CDs, DVDs, and Vinyl. Of course, you should always purchase used. The staff is very friendly and helps you find music that you might not know much about; in fact, you can walk in with a vague description of what you're looking for and walk out with a well-priced copy of it! I highly recommend even making a long trip to get here. It is worth it.

I was first introduced to Amoeba in Northern California. It was a bit smaller out there but this one located on Sunset is relatively bigger. They lots of selection and you can tell the people who work there really know their music. Very helpful individuals who can assist you with whatever you are looking for.

This is the best record shop I've ever seen. They also have a location in Berkley if the LA store does not have what you need. But I've always been able to find everything I've needed in LA. The have a huge selection of new and used, which includes hard to find titles and quite a few imports. A much better selection than the average music store. It's also a fun experience in the wood.

I LOVE Amoeba records. It is a great place to find any sort of music you want and I could spend a full day there. Seriously. Sometimes it's overwhelming and the parking can be tricky (Park at the Arclight, Amoeba validates!). Also, Amoeba has cool bandsplay on certain nights and the staff is usually friendly. LOVE THIS PLACE!

Amoeba has anything and everything your looking for. This is one of the largest music stores I've been to, and you can't beat the prices. Thousands of used and hard to find titles. The staff can be a bit unfriendly at times, but who cares when you find what you're looking for at such great prices. Amoeba gift certificates are a nice touch as well, since they have a little somehting for everyone. Don't miss out on a film from the archlight (next door) when you visit.

I agree that you can find good bargains here while finding some hard to find stuff. The things that I find annoying are the customers, the crowded store, and I never know where to begin looking for what I want. If all that doesn't bother you, then you should come check this place out.

EYE-BOGGLING, ear-jangling, wallet-crunching. Nice in the daytime when it's relatively attitude-free (clerks are great, hipster customers can be annoying). Their DVD section has expanded recently -- and is the best place to buy rare/used international films, including Asian cult anime and Criterion Collection. Downstairs, their music section is irresistible, everything from '50s one-hit-wonders and gamelan music from Bali to The Killers -- the only thing missing is a rack devoted to '20s swing. Theyalso pay great money (better credit) for your DVDs.

Love looking for used cds at this store. Great selection and knowledgable staff. Check it outr to have fun and save money
5Why go anywhere else to keep looking and looking for that CD no one else seems to carry? This is a great place to find cd's that you can't seem to find anywhere else. Rare...local bands and used CDS...they have it all and their prices cant be beat!
