We came as a party of seven for my birthday on a slow Thursday night 5/31/12. We started at the bar for the "all night happy hour". There were no seats left at the bar so we stood, which is normally no big deal, but the waitstaff is forced to cut through you every 2 seconds if your not sitting because their main walkway to the dining area cuts through the bar area and the space is only 3 feet wide. We asked them if they would extend the happy hour special to the table next to the bar so we could sit and not have food and dirty dishes stuck in our face every two seconds and they said no, its applies to the bar only. Now remember, there was NO ONE in the restaurant aside from the bar, and apparently it was just too difficult a concept to consider.

Then, they were having a problem with the keg for the beer we wanted to drink and instead of switching it out, which would only take a few moments, the rude ass bartender made us wait for each round, and in an hour and a half, I managed to get 1 beer from the keg, and a bottle from the fridge. Being fed up, my family got a table in the dining area while I waited at the bar to get a BOTTLE of beer, not from the broken keg. Cash in my hand, this "bartender" ignores me for 15 minutes and when he finally got around to asking me what I wanted, I asked for a bottled beer and I as I thought he was getting it, he burns me for another 15 minutes serving everyone at the bar (which was only like 10 people) INCLUDING a person who just walked in the door and ORDERED OVER MY SHOULDER FROM BEHIND.

It turns out that if your under 40 and not a regular, he treats you like crap. I took the tip my family left off of the bar to return it to them for such bad service, but my father made me give it back. He's more forgiving than I am. I've gotten better service at a Chili's or an Applebees that is 3x as big and 10x as busy. The dinner food was basically fast food German, but the wurst sampler appy was good.

Not recommended.

This is the only place left in North Jersey to get good sauerbraten or any other good German dishes now that Triangle Hofbrau is gone. My husband's favorite is the Weiner schnitzel.

Message from Kirker's Inn

For over forty years, Chef owner Ginger Phiefer has prided herself on her flavorful home-style cooking. Great shrimp dishes, Crab Cakes, Homemade Meatloaf, Juicy Burgers, Prime Rib, Chops, Fresh Seafood, Chicken and Pasta dishes along with Creative Salads, Sandwiches, Appetizers as well as her signature Bavarian dishes. All are very reasonably priced. Experience goes into every dish served at Kirker??s. Andy Phiefer co-owned Phiefer's luncheonette in Hackensack with his brother Art, along with the Country Hearth in Hillsdale, He and his wife, Ginger owned the Kings Ransom in Waldwick, N.J. Now, their son Vic has joined the tradition, providing one of the area's top dining and drinking destinations.
