I am a new member at Spa23, but the staff and instructors really make me feel at home. The classes work great with my schedule, and I always walk out of the gym feeling like I got a great total body workout. I was really hesitant to take classes at first but the instructors truly helped me to feel at ease and comfortable. I really love taking step! It is a great work out and I always feel energized after. Lauren is a great instructor because she keeps the class motivated and she always works us hard! I can't wait to try more classes!!!Jenn W.

I have been coming to Spa 23 for over four years. I started to workout here after my twin girls were born. My primary concern about finding a good gym was one that had a daycare center with reasonable rates and with a staff that I could trust while I worked out. I found that in Spa 23. The daycare director and staff have been extremely caring and nurturing with my children. My girls have pretty much grown up loving to go to the gym daycare while Mommy works out. I primarily use the pool and love it. I never have a hard time getting a lane and the facility is very clean. I also use the weight center which I never find to be overcrowded. Spa 23 is well worth the monthly membership for what it offers. c.m.

The Nursery at Spa 23 is the best. The manager is amazing. I joined Spa23 because of her. I wanted a gym that I felt comfortable putting my kids in the nursery. She takes such good care of all the children and goes above and beyond. You won't find this kind of service at any other gym. She truly loves kids and it shows. The nursery is always clean and tidy and the children have a great time. She has two fantastic girls that work for her in the morning too!!! I recommend Spa 23 to anyone who has little ones that need to utilize the nursery. You will love her!!!

Moving to Peqauannock in 2005, I quickly looked for a gym to join. I wasn??t familiar with the area at all but it didn??t take long to come across Spa 23, it??s only about two miles from my house. So I continued my normal routines of lifting weights, occasionally running on a treadmill. Then one day, I came across a class going on upstairs. It seemed like it was a great workout and a lot of fun. More importantly, it wasn??t what I thought a class at the gym would be. There were actually a couple of men in it and they seemed to be actually working out.
I asked around and was told that it was Group Power. I decided to give it a shot one night. That was over three years ago and I??ve been a Monday night regular since. Since then, I??ve added Wednesday morning class and occasionally a Saturday morning. The workout is amazing and the ??muscle confusion? really works. However, the best part of the workout is Erin. From day one when she came to introduce herself, Erin has been an incredible support system, always pushing me to do more. I was shocked that she even remembered my name the following week, but she did. She also asked how I felt after taking the class the first time (sore of course). I??ve seen Erin do that same routine with every single new person in her class over the years.
More recently, my Dad has started coming to some classes with me. He prefers Group Kick and Group Core, but being able to work out with my Dad is an amazing feeling. At 38 years old, most people don??t have that luxury anymore and I??m blessed that I??m able to share that experience with him. Erin certainly welcomed him with open arms, but her leadership and incessantly positive attitude impressed him right away. I??ve also begun doing other classes too and they are all great. Occasionally, I still hit the weightroom downstairs, but I've realized that I can never push myself as hard as I do in a group setting.
The great thing about Spa 23 though is that it is so many different things for many different people. For as many people like me who like to go for the classes, there are just as many who prefer racquetball, swimming, free weights, one-on-one training, yoga, martial arts, treadmill, track running, aqua aerobics, you name it. It really is a ??complete gym experience?.

I went into Spa 23 on a guest pass. The front desk staff was lovely, they were nice, listened to what I had to say, and then politely asked if I would see the membership department to sign something for my guest pass. It took about 30 seconds for the girl to call the lady and I was sent in. The lady in membership was such a sweetheart, she told me all about the club and was very knowledgeable with my questions. This gym was clean, and the staff was nice. I have gone to NYSC in Butler and their staff is rude and does not really care why you are there. Great gym, if I happen to join it would defiantly be because of how all the staff spoke to me.

Often times people are anxious to give feedback that is less than good but frequently don't provide good feedback using the "saying nothing must mean ok" theory. I feel compelled to provide some positive feedback Because of the impact on me personally and my daughter as well.

I've been a member happily using the facilities for starting my third year and have been very satisfied with spa 23. I am a distance runner training for my second marathon (Atlantic City Oct 21) and felt the need to step up my game and look into some training since although I know it good for everyone it is especially good for endurance athletes. So l called to set up a personal training session and by random i connected with Jane Rondin. We spoke at length about what my goals were and what I wanted to achieve (my actual words I believe were "I'm looking for someone to kick my a$$ and not take my crap) and set up a trial session back in March and I was so impressed that I immediately signed up for a PT membership and also added a second day a week with Jane so now have the benefit and pleasure of training with Jane twice a week. She has made such a tremendous influence on my fitness and nutrition that i felt the need to share with you how fortunate I am to have such a dedicated, enthusiastic professional on my fitness team. I also have rheumatoid arthritis and she is always looking for clues from me for modifications to workouts and has helped me to the point that I've been able to eliminate one very harsh medication and feel better than I have in years. My daughter was also so impressed with the changes she saw in me that for the first time expressed and interest in committing more thoroughly to her own fitness journey and I've signed her up for 2 express trainings with Jane a month and my husband also joined the gym last month as well.

I know this long and wordy but I can not Express my satisfaction and enthusiasm for Jane enough. She pushes me, keeps our workouts always different and challenging, tells me not only what we are doing but why each exercise important and what benefit they are, makes me laugh and enjoy myself and seriously challenges me to push my body harder than I have ever pushed myself. She not only talks the talk, she clearly also walks the walk!

You have a real gem, a true professional representing your gym and I felt clearly this needed to be shared with you at length and I intend to continue Jane and my partnership for the long term. I know she is as committed to me and my fitness as I am and that to me is irreplaceable.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to read this.

Appreciatively,
Cyndi Tarantino

Spa23 has made strides in recent years in updating the facility with new open spaces, some newer equipment, and a pleasing aesthetic environment and decor. The front desk staff are friendly and welcoming.... My issue is with management's failure to upkeep and maintain some of the machines ie. Lifecycle machines that have various electronic defects in programing in the video TV screens; not functioning properly etc. .... The new KINESIS center has a computer instruction video module which is non-functional and needs service.... newly installed water fountain dispenses room-temperature water,, not COLD! After a workout you want a drink of cold water...DUH! When this was brought to the owner's attn he said the water machine cost him $1000...WTF! Lastly, the locker rooms smell hideously of mold from the carpets. Who puts carpeting in a wet environment breeding germs and bacteria?? Not to mention the dated and diry shower and steamrooms... SPA23 could be a great facility if only mgt. invested in routine maintanance.
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE, they have a great offering of classes lead by knowledgeable leaders which are in full attendance including, Bootcamp, Kickboxing. Zumba, Aerobics, Martial arts etc. and various pool programs. Classes are offered for various levels and ages. Friendly communal atmosphere. Experienced trainers are friendly and ready to assist and work with clients in a program to attain individual fitness goals.

I got a free pass to use the gym, and it was great. In fact, I joined the gym shortly after I used the pass. The best part about this gym is the clientele. Very few intimidating or annoying muscleheads...it's more of a gym for the every day person who wants to stay fit or get healthy. Recommended for anyone who is looking for a down-to-earth and friendly place with a ton of different equipment options.

My wife and I joined this club because the guy in membership told us how much they had to offer like Kinesis, and group exercise classes, reformer pilates, programs for the kids. I asked him what was included and he told me all of them with the Platinum Membership. Turns out only some of the group exercise classes are free and my wife and I joined so I could use the kinesis equipment which they wanted to charge me several hundred dollars on top of my $75 a month membership to teach me how to use it. Then reformer pilates my wife wanted was only available with a paid personal instructor for over $50 a pop, not to mention the other classes she was interested in were extra as well. Both our memberships together cost almost $150 a month not to mention about another $100 a month more for the classes and equipment we were told were free. The membership guy who turned out to be a manager also denied he ever said that when I confronted him about it. Incredibly rude and deceitful, they'll tell you anything to get you to sign that contract. Do not give these dinosaur of a gym your money. They are just lining their pockets with the publics' lack of knowledge. You can also tell this place treats there employees terrible. The one year I was there I noticed the young trainers and high turnover.

I recently went back to Spa 23 to try a yoga class with a friend. There was a huge hassle at the front desk and belittling front desk workers with horrible attitiudes towards prospective members. Not only was the front desk personnel completely uninformed of classes/costs or basic membership structure, she was rude. She deferred all questions to the membership person sitting in an office 14 feet away, who NEVER left his office to talk to me.
I'm sure there's better gym options out there where patrons are treated better. Pass on this one.

Outdated interior, especially the locker rooms. Rugs in a locker room? How can you keep them clean and bacteria free? The pool is also outdated and the pool room is drab with windows that appear to have leaks and what appear to be broken seals. The life guard was friendly. Customer service otherwise was poor. Find another gym in the area.

This gym provides the least ammenities and charges unscupulously high fees. The equipment is 25 years old, and they give nothing (nothing) extra. Place is kinda dingy, with dirty carpets, mold on the soap dispensers, with small cramped, and out-dated locker rooms.
Spa 23 has a "new" - scam which is "join for a year for $30", except when you try and take advantage of that, they try and take advantage of you!!
Customer service is non-existent. This gym poorly trails even a Bally's , which is 1/2 the price.

Spa 23 charges way too much considering the equipment is 20 years old and limited. The locker room is antiquated and crowded and you are always bumping into the next person. They do not provide towels, or much else for that matter. This is a pretty much "bare-bones club", that just happens to overcharge because they can?
Try any other gym in the area for a cleaner evironment, better prices, and more service and extras.

Spa 23 has tons of different classes and equipment. The equipment is well-maintained and clean. The pool is nice and well-staffed. They offer a lot more classes and training opportunities than most other gyms in the area, which is why their membership is a tad more expensive. My only cons are that they don't offer many classes after 7 (except for pilates and yoga); the good classes are mainly in the morning or during the day and a lot of their really cool classes that are offered at night like boot camp are additional cost aside from your membership. I ended up paying about $2000 last year between membership and special classes b/c I took 2 sessions of boot camp, and 1 round of "kinesis". Lost 50 pounds, so it was worth it... but still...really hard on the pocketbook! The good thing about this not being a corporate gym though is that you can email the owner/manager, and he will respond. I have been assured that they are working on getting more at night for the fall.

I have been a member at this Club for about 6 years. I have always received the nicest of treatment. I would recommend highly, their swimming aerobics classes, message treatments, palates classes, and their weights and exercise machines. With your membership, you receive a free session with a personal trainer to set up your program and to teach you how to use the machines. This can be evaluated at any time. There us a friendly and family atmosphere here.

I highly recommend it for teaching your kids how to swim! We live in a lake community and I thought I would give it a try to see how my son, who was 4 at the time, would do in the class. He LOVED it! In just 10 lessons he was able to swim!! He is definetly not ready for the olympics but it made me sleep better at night knowing he can float and get himself across the pool! The classes are not very big (6-7 kids with 2 instructors). Absolutely worth the money! I felt the price was very reasonable given the benefit I recieved!! I can't wait to start again in the spring.

Spa 23 is a great local 24-hour gym off of Route 23 in NJ. It's not like your cookie cutter Bally's types. They offer a lot of opportunities to get a great workout, be it Aquacise in the indoor pool, lifting weights, or walking the treadmill. Membership fees are EXTREMELY well priced.

The facilities are clean and well-managed. The staff is very helpful, and will get you on the right path with not only exercise, but nutrition as well. I definitely recommend it

Have like this place from the get go and they have been there quite a few years now.
It is clean and has enough equipment for everyone.
The addition of the indoor pool is a great plus.
Location is good and parking is more than enough since they opened the additional back parking lot.
