I've lived here at Stratford Arms for several years now, and when I first moved in it was great - friendly, helpful staff, nice landscaping, decent neighbors. It has gone gradually downhill, especially over the past 12 months. The landscaping is no longer beautiful - the grass and plants are allowed to die during the summer months when there's no rain, the flowers are mostly all gone, split tree trunks are just left hanging, waiting for the next windstorm to knock them over.

Security has also deteriorated - there is an after-hours security company, but good luck getting ahold of them if you have a problem. They have voicemail - and they may call you back, but chances are they won't. If you do get ahold of them, they may or may not show up.

The finishes inside the apartments have never been anything to get excited about - decades-old appliances, peeling caulking around the tubs and sinks, partially-missing mouldings along the bottoms of the walls, doors and windows that don't seal out the cold air during the winter. To be expected of low-income apartments - but at $1050 and up, these are definitely not low-income apartments.

You wouldn't know it, though - because the complex definitely FEELS low income now. Those decent neighbors I mentioned? They're mostly all gone - most have moved out in the past year, replaced by thugs who sit around smoking pot and making noise all day. Not so bad, except when that pot smell seeps into YOUR apartment, and you end up with headaches and a stinky apartment, and management won't do anything about it.

Trust me - unless you plan on sitting around smoking pot all day, too - and unless you don't mind substandard finishes on an overpriced apartment - and unless you don't care that the grass is dead and the once-lovely view outside your back window is now one of dead rhodies that no longer bloom - then this apartment is not for you.

I lived at this apartment complex for 6 long months. The apartment was big but too expensive. I lived in the first unit by the street and I felt unsafe. The neighborhood is not very nice and I could hear cars driving by all night. I lived in a ground floor apartmentbut have heard there are some that are better and have lofts.
