Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Alana - Waikiki Beach
This is a great deal for Waikiki. The location is good, and there is valet parking. Staff is exceptionally attentive, helpful, and friendly. You can always find a great rate here; and that is surprising since this is such a good property. Rooms are good sized, nicely furnished, and comfortable. You'll find lots of locals who are loyal to this property, even after it became Doubletree. Don't forget to get your cookies at check in.
Ala Moana Hotel
What recommends this property is it's location. You can walk across the parking lot to Ala Moana Center, and that is why so many locals stay here when they come to town on business or just to do Christmas shopping. Rooms are reasonably sized, but not what I consider spacious and it's standard hotel furnishings. You'll also see flight crews here, and that can make you wait to check in or check out. Overall, a good deal for the price you can get.
Inn On The Park Condo
This is a place that you wish you knew about before you checked in. The location is good, but the property simply is not clean or well maintained. You'll see some overnighting business travelers, and you'll see some "guests" that will make you wonder about your personal safety. No matter what rate you get, this is not a good deal.
The New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel
This is a nice property, at the zoo end of Waikiki so it is not right in the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Rooms are good sized and tastefully furnished. You can enjoy a great beach, and swimming and surfing by walking out your door. They also have a great restaurant for lunch, where you can sit and watch the beach. What's unfortunate is when you compare it to the jewel it used to be. It just needs regular maintenance and care. Staff is friendly and helpful here.
Parc Cafe
This is a nice property, run by the folks who operate the world reknowned Halekulani Hotel. It has a good location, and you can walk to most restaurants and shops and beaches; but they also have valet and self parking for guests. Many guests are Japanese nationals. Rooms are reasonably sized and clean and nicely furnished. Be sure to ask for a room on an upper floor so you can enjoy the unbelievable views of the ocean or the mountains. Don't forget to try one of their buffets (lunch or dinner)
Royal Mauian Resort
Located in the center of Kihei, these condominiums are nice and each has a fully equipped kitchen. Units are nicely furnished, and they even have 3 bedroom units for $250 a night. You are close to great beaches, upscale and casual restaurants, and lots of shopping.
Napili Point Resort
This is a great property, located right outside of Lahaina in an area that I prefer to Lahaina. The rentals are suites, and they are nicely furnished with a tropical flair. There is a full kitchen in these units. There are pools here, but you are near some of the greatest beaches on Maui where you can do some fine snorkeling.
Spyglass House Oceanfront
This is a large residential property right on the water. It's great for groups, and if you are into windsurfing or kitesurfing this location is really near Hookipa, the windsurfing capital of the world. The rooms are casually furnished, and it's not a luxury property; but it's hard to find a better beach location
Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles At Beverly Hills
It's really hard to rate this hotel. You just can't beat the service at most any Four Seasons property. It's personalized and attentive. But this property shows its age, and for the rate you are charged and what you get, I think it's not longer worth it. Needless to say, the rooms are well appointed and clean.
Inn at Venice Beach
This is another exceptional property. It is well maintained, and the rooms are good sized though not what I would call spacious. But parking is free, WiFi is free, and the staff is bend over backwards friendly and helpful, Not that far from the airport (LAX) and there is a shuttle, too.
