Wingate University is a Baptist associated school in Wingate, North Carolina. It offers a laberal arts four year degree program. I am very impressed with the education that our son received there. He majored in Biology and went on to the new School of Pharmacy there. What a great undergrad experience he had. The dorms had paid tutors and faculty were required to have two hours in their office daily to help or to tutor students. They also have a large variety of top name speakers each year at graduation.
If you are looking for tutoring for one of your children, the Club Z in Home Tutoring may be for you. They have a very good staff with diverse backgrounds and can help with a variety of academic needs. They also offer a wide range of hours to accomdate the wierd schedules we maintain. With all of the good things said - I must admith that you pay for the! Compared to other programs - I would consider Club Z to be expensive. But in this case, I guess the old adage "You get what you pay for" is true.
Nicholas Thomas is a great attorney serving the Wake County area. He has only been out of law school for a few years now. But do not let that deter you as he is very sharp with a large database. He did an excellent job in helping me get out of and rid of an excessive speed limit charge and ticket. In fact, he was so sure of the case that I did not have to go to court as he went in my place and the ticket was expunged. He is good at what he does.
The Bike Rack is one of the best bike shops around. THey are open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 until 6:00 PM. Their staff is very knowledgeable of the products that they sell and service. Service calls are taken as customers come in and if possible they try top fix the problems while the customer is still in the store. I also like the fact that this business is very community oriented. They have donated to the AIDS Ride, MDA and MS Walks - just to name a few. I feel that I am giving back to the commuity by shopping here.
Dr. William Tucker is, in my opinion, a good optometrist. He has a state of the art facility which is very new and has a Manhattan flare. Unfortunately, I truly believe that to pay for the bussiness that they must charge exorbident prices for their glasses. My package ran around $880. I was floored - but I do have bad eyesight. I price shopped the glasses and lens prescription at several other stores. I was able to get a price for the same package at $390 - less than half of what this establishment charges. I would therefore not be able to recommend this office to anyone with a clear conscious.
The Briggs Avenue Dialysis Center of Durham is one of the best. I personally do not have to have dialysis - but I have taken my father there on several occassions. They have a very caring and loving staff. Unfortunately, it is a little depressing with all the patients there -- but they do their best to liven up each of the 3 to 4 hour sessions. It is also nice that they have a healthy selection of snacks and beverages especially since MANY of the patients are below the poverty line and in my opinion do not have good nutrition.
Blanchard's Plumbing Company of Fuquay-Varina has been in bussiness for 40 years. They are a family owned and operated business which has 3 generations working together. My parents have used them for years with good reports - so I decided to try them when installing a new dish washer. I am very happy with their courtesy and expertise - and would recommend them to all of my family and freinds.
As a male, I do occassional like to have my nails done. At this salon, they have a large male clientele. The facility is new, very clean and has a 100 rating by the state board. Chan is my technician of choice. She really enjoys her work and it shows. I usually get both a manicure and pedicure from her. A manicure is $25 and a pedicure is $35. Tips are not included so I usually leave around $5. The best part of the visit is a neck/shoulder massage at the end of the session.
We use All Seasons Landscapes as our lawn care professional. For years, I had maintanined the yard myself - but decided to gve it up for a wile. I happened to see the truck for the company in my neighborhood one day. So I stroke up a conversation and decided to have them service my yard on a trial basis for a few weeks. Needless to say, I was VERY pleased. They are affordable and reasonable. I recommend them without reservation.
Taylors of Raleigh is well known for its Fine Paper and gifts. They have been in bussines for over 90 years. The staff is WONDERFUL and I really mean that. They immediately greet you when you come into he store. They try to assist the client to find whatever product or item that they are looking. In addition to there great ad large selection, they also will be happy to order you any item that they do not stock. For years, they have been the choice to many of the 'blue-blooded families' of Raleigh for the all important wedding invitations. They allso ahave recently added a phatography department and are making progress in tha area.
