Joe's garden is a local spot offering everything from blueberries to pumpkins to fresh picked flowers! They are a local garden and you go on site to pick out your fruits and veggies. It is the best knowing exactly wehre they are coming from and what was used to grow them. Joe's is a local spot with a great reputation for a reason. They have delicious produce and great service. They are usually packed duirng summertime when most fruits are in season, but well worth the parking headache that sometimes accompanies. Joe's gardents are a 5 star place to go!
Whether you are a teacher, parent of just deal with kids this store is wonderful. they have everything learning related you could eve imagine. The prices are great, the staff are friendsly and helpful, and the merchandise is priceless. Mostly a teaching store, they also carry books, learning instruments and charts and fun learning toys. The location isn't excellent, but parking is easy to come by and they are so helpful!
Clark's feed and seed is a great store offering specialty pet food, toys and fish galore. It is a great place to go for a fish tank, turtle or just to find out why your guppies are dying. They offer great advice for fish tanks, dog and cat food and more. They also do free water testing on Wednesdays where you can bring in a sample of your tanks water and they will tell you what you are doing right or wrong. They know what they are talking about and have a great selection of fresh and saltwater fish for your tank!
The dance studio is by far the best studio around. They have classes at all times, taught by excellent teachers who know what they are doing! Parking is a headache, but it's worth it if you want to dance, or learn to dance. Classes include but are not limited to jazz, ballet, pointe, tap, hip hop and more! There is an annual performance put on at our local Theatre, selling out for both nights and matinee on SUnday. They are reasonably priced, family owned, and have a great reputation for a reason!
This bridal shop is definately upscale shopping. They, like other bridal industries types take advantage of the upcoming "special day" and you will pay like it is a very special day indeed. The shop is quaint and small, but very well run. You will feel like a princess when you enter. The service would be most excellent, but remember, you are paying for it. They have beautifully crafted merchandise, but very expensive.
Regis hairstylists are your run of the mill mall haircut places. You definately get what you pay for, and you are not paying all that much. It is usually easy to get in for a hair appt. I wouldn't recommend anything extravagant like color or a perm, mostly they are good for haircuts. They send out coupons in the mail and it can be really cheap if you are coupon savvy. The stylists are sometimes hard to understand because of thier native language, but it is a good place to go for a cheap cut!
This bowling alley has the best prices in town. the only downfall is that it's really smoky - but to be expected at a bowling alley huh? The staff are great, they have the general shoes, pull tabs, and greasy food. they are located downtown so parking is sometimes hard to come by. If you go on a friday or saturday night , expect to wait. It is a popular place to go with the college agers. they have great specials on beer, and if you go on a packed night, they card everyone and the 21 and uppers wear a bracelet that says they are the beer drinkers.
Okay, besides the cute name, this hair place is super cute. The staff are friendsly and all do a great job. there prices are very reasonably and they are great to work with. The stylists are helpful and work well with many types of hair. they will tell you if the cut you want will work with your hair type and facial structure. They are very reasonably priced and do great updo's that I've seen. they are really nice, the place is clean and cutely decorated, and they aren't too hard to get an appointment with. I would highly recommend them1
Planned parenthood is a great place to go if you are low income or don't have insurance. they have a program called take charge that will cover your annual exams and your choice of birth control. downfalls are that it's hard to get an appointment, and you often have to wait (sometimes up to an hour) after your scheduled appointment. they are a basic health care clinic, no frills or extra's attached. You basically get in, get seen, get out. Prices are good if you are in the take charge program, on a sliding scale, or covered fullly or partilaly by insurance. If you like to go to the doctor and feel comfortable, well taken care of you probably don't want to go there.
Boundary Bay is an excellent local hangout place. they obviously brew their own beer on site. The sampler is the way to go if you don't know what you want, but like beer in general. They bring out a placemat type thing that they set little beers on. the placemat explians what beer it is and waht is in it, how much alcohol etc. You will get drunk or a buzz off of it. The food at bounday bay is awesome! I have ordered several things off the menu and I have never been let down by any of it. My fave's are the BBQ chicken quesidilla and the Thai wrap among others. the atmosphere is great, with art on the walls, live or pre recorded music playing and picnic table and others in the bar part. the restaurant part is not much different, other than better service and a bit quieter. Boundary Bay is a great place to go have a beer or dinner/lunch too!
