I took a print here recently to have framed for my husband's birthday present. The owner worked with me to match the frames we already owned, and she was very pleasant and helpful. This store offers a large variety of custom frames, mats, and premade frames. They also have some lovely artwork for sale, and the store is very clean and attractive. Convenient parking located in Northepoint Plaza, on Pittsburgh Street (Rt. 51), Uniontown.
As with any custom-framed item, they are not inexpensive, but the price was comparable to any good framer, and I was well pleased with the results. Highly recommended.
The only "con" about the Smithfield Public Library is it's only open two days a week, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. For a very small, "small town" library, they have a surprisingly nice selection of books and periodicals. It is housed in the borough building with a nice large room all to itself. They had a very nice selection of children's books in an attractive, bright area.
The library is part of a large network of local libraries and is able to request books on loan that they do not have on stock themselves. They have a small, knowledgeable staff who are most helpful. The day I signed up, the librarian (a retired school teacher) explained their system to me, and she was very friendly. I wish they were open more often, but it's a perfect small library for school children and retired persons.
Pro: Fines are only 5 five cents per day!
Larry's Home Appliance Service is a good local repair company. He returns calls quickly and will work around your schedule. He has done repairs on our electric, ceramic-top stove and our dishwasher, and we were pleased with the results.
His pricing is fair also.
This is a mom & pop type pharmacy, so do not expect to find a big selection of cosmetic, food, greeting cards, etc like the big chain pharmacies carry.
They primarily fill prescriptions, and offer a small line of over the counter medicines. Despite not being a chain, their pharmacists are very knowledgeable and caring. They provide very good service to their customers, and I highly recommend them.
I've had many small items repaired at Amend's, sometimes right on the spot.
They do not sell jewelry anymore, but do carry a small selection of gift items. They also carry a full line of trophies for sporting events that they will also engrave. I've had clasps fixed on necklaces, a bracelet repaired, batteries put in my watch, and I even had my engagement ring resized. They have a small staff and it's sometimes hard to see the owner (who I believe only works a few hours per week), but they are very accommodating and if they are unable to handle a job quickly for you, they'll recommend another shop.
This is a very exclusive jeweler's shop. I have only gone in one time to check on some garnet jewelry for a friend, and I was overwhelmed by the prices.
They do have an excellent selection, but for the average customer, even smaller items seemed far too expensive. The owner was present, and was very solicitous but intimidating. The shop is beautiful and very well maintained.
Romeo and Sons is a well-established wholesale grocery and party supplier. They are the place to go when you need to purchase a large amount of food for a party or banquet, and they also supply items such as tablecloths, cutlery, paper plates and napkins, party decorations, etc. They do not provide ready-made foods, but you can purchase large pans of items like hot sausage ready to cook, frozen chicken, etc. Their store is somewhat jumbled, and most of it is housed in a big warehouse.
They charge a restocking fee if you want to return any items you do not use.
My husband received excellent health care from Dr. Frederick Ruthardt of Southwest Gastrointestinal Specialists, P.C. He needed a liver biopsy done, and Dr. Ruthardt and his staff were highly recommended to us. We were not disappointed in the care my husband received, either medically or professionally. We would also recommend Dr. Ruthardt to anyone needing a specialist of this nature.
Fayco offers more than just party supplies for banquets, etc. They are also well known for tool rentals. My husband has used them on more than one occasion when purchasing a tool for one job would not be cost effective. When we had plumbing problems earlier this year, he was able to obtain an electric eel and attachments at a reasonable price. Same thing for renting a huge auger for helping friends dig holes for fence posts. Fayco has just about any tool you can think of for rental.
