Although the Wheel Inn has a full menu it is known for it's Friday night fish fries. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the prices are right. This is a restaurants where all the locals tend to gather.
Fayette is a very small, unincorporated village several miles north of Darlington on your way to Yellowstone Lake. There is one "T" intersection in the village and the Fayette bar is located there. Whether you wish to stop in for a drink or a quick sandwich, this is the place to do it. The clientelle are mostly local people and everyone knows everyone. Although you would think that a stranger wouldn't be accepted here, that isn't the case. After a few minutes, there are no strangers in the Fayette bar.
Whenever we're in Platteville near lunch time particularly, we enjoy stopping at the Rountree family restaurant. Their menu is extensive, the staff is friendly and efficient and the prices are right. I've never had a bad meal here.
We've stopped in here for lunch several times. Although the food was good and the service as well, I don't remember anything that stands out about this restuarant.
When first moving to this part of the state, my husband and I visited many of the area golf courses and Cole Acres was one of them. It is a relatively easy course to play in that there weren't many trees, and only one large pond that did come into play on several holes. Being quite flat, it was quite easy to stay out of trouble and to get a lot of roll in the later part of the season. This is an enjoyable course to play for the average golfer.
This custard is the very best! I take every opportunity to stop that I can. My favorite is Caramel Cashew though Turtle Sundaes are a close second. There's nothing better than giving your self a special treat of a Michael's Frozen Custard!
Our car seems to be on auto-pilot and turns into every Michaels that we go by. Ant this one is no exception. Caramel Cashew in a Jr. waffle cone is the absolute best! Though a baby turtle sundae is a close second!
Mitchell's hardware store has a little bit of everything. It's not unusual to stop in looking for that odd little something, ask, and sure enough, they have it! As with a store of this type there seems to be clutter everywhere but I've found that there's a method to their madness. If you can't find something, the staff sure can! Just what a small town needs.
This is a very nice place to stop in for a cup of coffee and a roll, for lunch or for a family style meal. The food is good, the service is as well and the prices are right. There's nothing really special about the Pointer Cafe but it is a pleasant place to stop.
The Pizza Pantry is indeed about the size of one's pantry in their home. It is very small. Hardly room enough for several people. In spite of this limitation, they do a pretty good business. Young people tend to pick up a pizza and eat it with their groups of friends while hanging on Main Street. The pizza is pizza, neither great nor bad. However, the price is right.
